I was looking for a place to eat local to Gillette and saw Ranch and Roost with great reviews. It was right down the street from my hotel and a super easy drive. The outside doesn’t look like much, in fact, had it not been for the reviews, I would have definitely passed it over based on pictures. I’m glad I didn’t, though.
Walking in, it smelt amazing. It’s almost like a big kitchen with a little counter to take your order, but has ample seating outside. The portion sizes were huge! It was a little pricy, but not too crazy. They are smash burgers so they have a bit of a crunch, and they are double smash burgers so once you start getting the toppings in there, that burger grows high. That was a struggle for me because I have a small mouth and tend to tear the corners of my mouth, but I think most people would appreciate it. Great flavor for sure.
I ordered fries and tater kegs for the sides. Fries are made fresh which again, most people love but not me because I find them to be less crispy and more soggy. But they did have excellent flavor. The potato kegs were like huge tater tots with cheese and green onion in them if I recall correctly. They were a bit dry, even drowned in ranch, so those weren’t my fave. Speaking of ranch, I’m a bit of a ranch snob and I will say they had excellent ranch.
Overall, I’d probably eat here again if I find myself passing...
Read moreBeyond impressed with this place!!! Spent 10 days vacationing in Wyoming with my wife and 4 kids and we hit this place up as often as we drove by it! Customer service is a very big deal to my wife and me, and not one of the employees let us down! Thank you Kerry and crew for making us feel so welcomed!! And I felt like it was a bonus to actually run into the owners while there (Aaron and Kelly, I believe!). Also, the fact that they ground their own local beef and brisket fresh every single morning does not take long to recognize and taste the difference from even an above average burger! The flavor and crisp exterior was incredible; I could have just eaten the beef and been satisfied . . . but adding in the freshly warmed buns and any and every topping took this experience over the top for all of us. (You won't be disappointed if you add in the amazing tater kegs and some of the funnel cake fries--which the kids loved; those alone will have me stopping back every time I'm even close to Gillette!)! Do yourself a favor and hit this place up when you can. Satisfied Vacationer from...

Ranch and Roost is a must-visit for burger enthusiasts. Everything was fresh and so tasty. I had the Cactus Burger, which was a perfect combination of cheese, fried onions, bacon, and chipotle sauce. All the dipping sauces were delicious.
Some reviews mention the prices being high, but considering the quality of ingredients and the fact that they grind their own beef patties, it's absolutely worth it. The taste and freshness are evident in every bite.
The kids' meal seemed like a great deal to me. Feeding my family of four for $45 is more economical than dining at McDonald's, where we often end up throwing away unfinished Happy Meals. Here, my kids ate everything on their plates.
The staff at Ranch and Roost were super kind, considerate, and had great manners. This place is a gem for those who appreciate quality food and excellent service. Highly...
