This is a complicated review for me to leave. I really want to give Landmark my full endorsement and tell you it's great. However, I can't because of their easily fixable self-inflicted missteps that they refuse to fix.
With the EXCEPTION of this last time I went, the service is traditionally slow and infrequent. Colin D. was far and away the best server we've had in years. And for one main reason... He came back to the table frequently to see if we needed refills or anything in general concerning our meal. It didn't hurt that he was friendly and personable, as well.
Usually, we get a not-happy-to-be-there server to eventually come over. We get our drinks and appetizers put in, receive those, order the food and then the server's best David Copperfield impression comes into play and they vanish for long periods of time. If you want to serve drinks in those small Ball jars filled more than halfway with ice, that's fine. But, you've got to come back more frequently to check on refills.
We have decided against going to Landmark on several occasions because of the time it takes to get our meal experience completed. Meals that would normally take us no more than 90 minutes from sitting down to getting up have gone over the two hour mark many times.
Now for the food. I have had zero problems with the actual taste of the food. In fact, I recently tried their cheesesteak and found it quite good. Where the issue lies with several dishes, and this is a big one, THE QUANTITY DOES NOT MATCH THE PRICE. In particular the Mango Shrimp Tacos ($12.99), Breaded Mozzarella ($10.99) and Pretzel Sticks ($8.99).
When the tacos came out, we thought it was a joke or someone had made a mistake. Two of the tiniest tacos on a big plate and nothing else. I had never felt embarrassed for a restaurant until that moment. The breaded mozzarella was three sticks. That's $3.66 per stick of cheese. You've got to, at a minimum, throw a fourth one on there... and serve the sauce on the side. Don't plop them in the sauce on the plate. How is a family of four supposed to share that? Even then, it's still priced a little too high. Then we have the pretzel sticks. TWO pretzel sticks. TWO. $4.50 per pretzel stick. We thought a worker may have eaten one on the way to the table. The happy hour half price apps prices are honestly what the regular prices should be for the mozzarella and pretzels in their current quantities. No less than four should come out for either the mozzarella or pretzels.
What is boils down to is this. Landmark needs to decide if they want to be a fancy restaurant with their prices and quantities, or a bar and grill. Personally, I think they'd do much better as a bar and grill and it would make someone like me come back more frequently, rather than just once in a while. Accept it. Embrace it. And make the changes. They have good tasting food, a beautiful establishment, a convenient location, a nice atmosphere and free parking. I'd hate to see them blow it on things like slow service and chinsing out on little things like...
Read moreMy husband and I love coming to landmark the food is always so good. We decided to go out tonight (7/24) for dinner, arrived around 5:50 and was told it would be an hour wait, which we were fine with as we were waiting for the Phillies to start at 7pm anyway and had specifically asked about seating around a TV. We waited a little over an hour and never received a txt stating our table was ready, so we decided to walk up. Now there was a situation going on outside which was being handled by police, so we had thought maybe with the chaos, they just forgot to buzz us. We walk up and the man at the hostess station who put our info in originally, was caught off guard by our arrival and tried telling us he was going to do US a favor and sit us at the bar even though he’s not supposed to put seats there, he was going to do that for us because he didn’t have any tables available (mind you, there were people coming and going the whole time we were waiting). So as we’re walking in he sees a couple leave and says oh actually I can sit you at a table now since they’re leaving and we had said whatever works( remember we about seating near a TV to watch the game). He begins to take us out front where no one is, and no TVs. So I kindly said oh it’s ok we’ll just sit at the bar since there’s no tv out here, my husband wants to watch the game. The hostess turns and says well I don’t have those seats available anymore. I turned to my husband and he said forget it we’ll just go somewhere else, so I asked the man what happened to our reservation and he replied “um there’s people still here!”. We are 100% positive he forgot about our reservation, and instead of admitting his mess up, he let business walk out the door. We were very disappointed as we always love going to Landmark and were looking forward to their food. Now we’re at home eating takeout, with a...
Read moreGreat atmosphere. Good food. Great drinks.
UPDATE: my first time coming to Landmark about a yr ago now.. was very pleasant.. I stand behind my first review! the atmosphere was Great.. the bar was clean.. waitress was amazing as were the bartenders. I tipped Great that night and they most certainly deserved it. I recently went back about 2weeks ago.. my first night out after having a baby n my experience was TERRIBLE!!!!! We wanted to be seated on the deck bar for appetizers n drinks.. when we walked in no one was available to seat us.. it was a busy night so I waited a cple mins but just decided to go back myself to the deck.. we sat in some empty seats and no one approached us at all they walked by us several times (the wait staff) before I approached the waitress and asked for a menu.. she came back to me after a few mins and said we had to go back upfront to be seated properly though the table was not reserved and empty..
We went back upfront got seated on the deck AGAIN..at the table across the room which was sticky n dirty the guy who seated us did apologies and clean the table and the waitress that came over was very pleasant.. food was pretty good..
Atleast the food was good.. but the customer service initially was very off putting n ignorant to say the least..
When I first went to this bar it was an excellent experience.. diverse crowd n music.. when I went back I felt unwelcomed and disrespected..
Not only was the welcome.. unwelcoming but the music was very very loud rock music so loud u couldn't here yourself talk.. AND I love rock music but it was way too loud n seemed as if they were trying to appeal to only a certain crowd instead of good customer experience n a good warm vibe for everyone!
I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK...
