To describe my experience at Dawn to Dusk Café I have to say it was not what I hoped for. Went to have lunch with a friend and we wanted to try it out since it just opened. The place looked great, very clean and spacious. Seated very quickly and ordered our food. Our waitress seemed great at first. We ordered our food and told the waitress what we wanted. Food came out fairly quick but wasn’t exactly what we wanted but we weren’t going to complain because it was minor things. Our waitress really just dropped our food off not asking if we needed anything else. Another employee asked how our food was and if we needed anything and we asked for napkins which she was happy to give us. After the other employee helped us that’s when our waitress decided to come over and see if we needed anything. At that point we didn’t but she never came back to check on us. After not having anyone check on us we asked another employee for our check so we could go. We did not like the fact that it took 3 employees to get us our check. The last employee I assume was a manager and asked if everything was okay. At that point I figured it was best to be honest because this could be constructive criticism to help for the future. I am not one to complain or start a scene. While talking to again I assume a manager our waitress came over with an attitude to see what the problem was. The person who came over to us who we assume is the manager told her he had everything but she didn’t want to go after he told her he had it and seemed like she wanted to cause a scene which in my opinion is not very professional. We quickly paid for our food and left. My friend and I agreed we would not be back until a few months to see if anything changes. We understand that with new business there is always room for improvements and it may not be 100% at its best. We would give it another try but again not for a while and especially after that experience. It was more of the staff and how they were then anything. Food was okay (just a minor things we had an issue with) and the feel/vibe for the place was nice. Hopefully people find...
Read moreAhhhhhh.... what can I say about this place? The server.... was.... nice??? That might be about it. When I review places I dine at, I try my best to be fair. To give the full spectrum while also understanding that we all have different palettes in life as it pertains to taste. This food was probably the bottom of breakfast spots for me. Keep in mind, whenever I go out to dine, I bring company so we can order multiple peices off the menu and pick from each others meals to make for a more versatile and fair rating. I ordered an Egg Sandwish with turkey sausage on an everything bagel. My freind ordered fried eggs with the yolk, bacon (which I did not try because I don't eat pork), homefries, and toast. To start, my bagel was rock solid. You know how bread is so hard that you have to clamp down tight and pull it hard enough to actually break it while also trying to keep a portion between your teeth? Yea... so if you have dentures don't order the bagel. My egg (just the white no yolk) was still runny like it wasn't cooked all the way. And no, it wasn't the grease from the turkey sausage, I can tell the difference. The home fries, even with ketchup were as bland as any raw potato you could bite into. Honestly, for $30 I could have just gone to the papis at the bodega in Camden and got a BLT on a roll for $3.75 and it would have hit 100 times harder than this place. I'm not one who revisits a food place just because I can tolerate it by the way. If I know it's not going to satisfy me, I'm not going anywhere near it. The waitress was a very sweet woman. Good manners, attentive, and available. The establishment was very clean and neat. However, this is not a place I would consider grabbing food from twice. It's a lost thought after the...
Read moreI was so slammed with work for grad school that I cancelled an important appointment and brought my children to a relatives house. I wanted to maximize my time working without interruption so I googled coffee shops local to their home. I chose Dusk til Dawn out of the 3 coffee shops that showed up on Google maps and boy was this a mistake.
Short version: It's not a coffee shop/cafe, it's a restaurant. It's deceiving because when you enter, there's a counter with pastries and one of those chalk boards with all the coffee choices. It seems like a coffee shop until you realize that the counter is strictly for customers picking up orders.
The reason for the 3 stars: the waitress/server I had was lovely and considerate, the pumpkin spice latte and avocado egg salad sandwich I ordered were both great.
But I will never risk coming here to do anything productive ever again. You have to wait to be seated. You have to ask for the wifi network/password, the music is too loud to focus on work or read. The real kicker was that their WiFi was not working and the women I perceived to be the manager did not care at all. (I was logged onto their network with both my MacBook and pixel 7, troubleshooting and trying again every 5-10 mins) This woman claimed their tablets were on the wifi so it must be my issue and walked away without even really hearing me. Once I received my check, I walked like a block away to Higher Grounds coffee shop, logged into their WiFi and my devices connected in an instant. If you are looking to have a cup of coffee and get some work done in a cafe atmosphere, downtown Glassboro. I recommend Higher Grounds...
