I started buying espresso beans here due to a recommendation from a friend, and their espresso roast is decent, but due to a few reasons, I am no longer going to patronize this establishment:
The biggest issue is their total lack of customer service. The employee attitudes range from indifferent to flat out rude. I do not need to drive out here from TC to be treated so poorly. Especially beware when dealing with the owner's son. He is not outwardly rude, but he is so indifferent towards customers that it is infuriating.
They do not care about whole bean purchases. The employees wait until no one else is in the shop before weighing beans. I have been in there on more than one occasion where I paid for my 5lb bag of beans, and then had to wait more than 20 minutes for the staff to serve everyone else (including people who came in long after my order) before getting to the beans that I have paid for.
They put false opening hours on their website. I have checked their hours on their website, drove all the way out from TC, only to find the shop closed. When I called to say something to the employees, they could not have cared less and did not update the website hours.
Their beans are old and of low quality. They get trapped in double conical grinder, and they are typically so old, that they never brew up quite right.
I will also add that I have started buying my beans at Higher Grounds. Their beans are fresher, of a much higher quality, and the staff is...

Unfortunately this place is gimmicky when it comes to coffee beans. A lot of their selection of whole beans are syrup coated without any indication that they are flavored on the bag. Very few of their beans are not flavored. The ones that aren't flavored have no indication on where the beans originated from so you don't get an idea what the profile is. I got a bag to go and ultimately ended tossing it out because of how poor it tasted.
Outside of the quality of their products the employees and cafe aren't the greatest either. If you are planning on doing any work on your laptop/phone then be prepared to search for an outlet that works. When I went, the bathroom door wasn't locking and I ended up being the gatekeeper for those using it even though the employees were told about it being broken.
In my opinion, this place is a tourist trap with low quality products and services and the only reason to stop in is to...
Read moreA great community space for Glen Arbor and the Southwest Leelanau area. Large bright interior with huge windows for those cold or rainy days, spacious outdoor patio that allows for SOCIAL social distancing. My dad and other members of our family have enjoyed going here in the mornings for decades when in Glen Arbor, it’s a great crowd of newcomers and locals and nice dogs and is very friendly. Made a lot of long term friends here. The coffee is a bit controversial to some as they stick to their French press method, but you’ve got to admire someone these days who makes a decision and sticks to it. Have had terrific breakfast sandwiches, have excellent pastries and ice cream..for a healthy breakfast check out their bulletproof coffee. THE Place for coffee in the Sleeping Bear...
