I traveled 90 minutes to meet my sisters who lives far and this is our normal meeting spot. We sit, we have crabs beer and cocktails while we catch up. we have done this a number of times before. My server shift was ending and asked if I could pay the bill and start a new tab with the server coming in - very common and I didn't mind. I paid my $293.00 bill. Happy to place another order with my 'new' server. As soon as the next server came (7 minutes later), he asked if I could move because my table was reserved for a part that normally sits there. There were other tables around this seat, but because this party normally sits THERE we was asked to move as they're coming at 6:00. I was disturbed my the request and asked where could I move that may not be one of your favorite regular customers spot. The bar was the offer. Although it was not time I did move. Reluctant and with a uneasy feeling I moved to the bar. The space was immediately occupied at 5:22. Well now this was more disturbing. Was is US or is the spot for a party at 6:00? One sister was upset and asked management how is this allowed. The bartender stated it's how it is and it's not her decision. Directly after, we were told management had 'cut us off'. I couldn't understand - cut us off from what? We were certainly not intoxicated in the least. One of my sisters just left as she saw it as racial discrimination and could no longer stay there. This was embarrassing and made me feel very unwanted after spending so much money. I said what would be the purpose of the 'cut off' - Well the bartender went to look at the bill that was paid and stated you have had 7 drinks!! I said what? you're now counting my drinks? Funny thing is only 4 of those were alcohol beverages - They were counting are cokes sodas ad cut off limits as well. While at the bar started speaking to other 'black' people who expressed white people being seated as priority over them. I am so disappointed in this establishment and will never go back. I hate to even report this as I don't normally leave reviews. But I wanted to say publicly the management of this restaurant speaks for their regulars and you have no worries to continue to have great experience. If you are not there every weekend - the 'regulars' (who by chance all seem to be caucasian) will overshadow the newer patrons who spend that amount of money. I encourage patron to spend their money where they are liked appreciated and accepted regardless of the color of their skin - All the money is GREEN. I'll be reporting this beyond this site - but wanted other people to know what's...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I would. Our service started out ok, and for the most part, it wasn’t terrible. We sat out on the porch, and the waitress came to take our drink order, my mom ordered an iced tea, and after hearing us all order orange crushes , she changed her drink order to an orange crush but was still brought an iced tea and an orange crush. Whatever, maybe she said it confusingly, nobody really cared at the time. We ordered a few appetizers and crabs (a dozen, large, which aren’t exactly cheap). Apetizers were brought out quickly but the table was a little wobboly and the waitress knocked a drink over. Not a big deal, she replaced it almost immediately. The crabs followed about 15 minutes later and they looked great. The waitress came to check on us and that’s when my uncle realized what was happening at the table next to us. A man and a woman were getting up, and the man, who was sitting closest to our table, had pooped his pants to the point of it going all over the picnic table seat, the ground, and then he walked through it. The waitress was horrified and quickly excused herself to figure out how to clean it up. About 10 minutes later a man came out with bleach water in a big bucket. I tried to get up before he started throwing it down, but wasn’t fast enough and it splattered and had to ask him to stop so that I could get up before anymore got on me. After I asked him to stop so I could move he said “oh that’s a good idea”. I mean yeah it is a good idea because I don’t want somebody else’s poop on me. Anyway, the waitress came back to check on us again and said she was sorry “but it wasn’t her fault” we absolutely 100% did not blame this restaurant!!!! We also didn’t want anything for free by any means. We know that they can’t control what their costumers do and would never hold them at fault. However, it would have been nice to have been formally apologized to by a manager but that never happened and for that reason none of us will...
Read moreThis place was comfortable to eat at, but the food wasn't quite as good as I expected it to be. We came here for lunch on a Monday. We were first of all surprised to see that they had dinner specials instead of lunch specials. No big deal, but definitely something to keep in mind for future visits.
Service was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and patient and the food came out in a timely manner.
Our table shared a hot combo appetizer (crab balls, bacon wrapped shrimp w bbq sauce, and clams casino). It only came with 3 of each which was very disappointing considering we paid $17.99 for it. But the crab balls were delicious and we were impressed at the fact that the bacon was actually crispy despite being wrapped around a shrimp and slathered in a thick bbq sauce.
My husband and I shared the fried Seafood Combination platter. It was HUGE. It was more than enough for the both of us. Honestly if we were less glutinous, it probably could've fed 3-4 people. The crab cake it came with was very large and tasted pretty good. It also came with some of the largest shrimp and scallops I have ever had. There were also oysters and clams. However a lot of the breading fell off the pieces and the cook was very inconsistent. Some pieces were nice, but some of the clams and scallops were overcooked and rubbery. Our guests both ordered fish and chips and they were happy with it.
One of the guests and I ordered desserts. Both of the desserts we originally ordered were unavailable, but I ended up getting the black bottom cheesecake (which is a layer of cheesecake over a layer of chocolate cake topped with chocolate chips). It was delicious. Our guest liked his cheesecake as well.
Overall, we were satisfied and I would definitely return. But I would rather try their steamed...
