I am native to Pasadena and Glen Burnie area always loved going to Seaside. My husband and I live in Italy now and came home for a visit. We called Seaside several times to get crabs which I miss and every day they didn’t have any. Today we called at 11 AM. They told us to call back at 12:00 12:30 to see if they had any and we were told yes they have large extra large and jumbo. We tried to reserve some and a table and were told no first come first serve. We hurry up get dressed and come to Glen Burnie from Pasadena for the crabs since they were first come first serve. When we arrive, we sit down and request the crabs and was told not a crab in the house. They proceeded to ask us what phone number we called because they don’t have any.. We showed them the phone number that we called and they still proceeded to tell us not sure who told us but they have no crabs. Although their crabs are really good. That was totally messed up that we had to go through that.. so we go on Google and find this little place here called crack and juicy which was a one minute drive from Seaside. I was kind of skeptic at first because I know this was the old crossroads bar I used to hang out many many years ago.. we ordered a half dozen of extra large crabs, which was a lot cheaper than Seaside and was told they do not have alcohol, which is fine because there is a liquor store about a half a minute walk. You can bring your own alcohol and sit the table and eat your crabs or whatever you order which all the food looks wonderful. We spoke with other patron’s and had nothing but good things to say. They are very friendly and cater to all your needs. The crabs were very good, not salty so I assume that they put a little sugar in their old bay, which is still good but I prefer salty. While we were waiting, we were brought out some fried shrimp which was very very good. The jumbo fried shrimp so we ordered a 10 piece which was only $10:95 and they were very good.. I have included some photos and I am glad we came here… our bill only came to $83 in total. The extra large crabs were a good size, very full and tasty. The shrimp was extra...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to Crack and Juicy, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional quality of their seafood and the warm hospitality extended by the owner. The establishment's commitment to crafting a unique dining experience is evident in every aspect of their service.
We began our meal with the crab soup, a delightful concoction that featured not only succulent crab meat but also tender crawfish. The broth was rich and flavorful, striking a perfect balance without being overly salty. This harmonious blend highlighted the freshness of the seafood and the skillful seasoning that is a hallmark of the restaurant.
The crab cakes were a standout, showcasing generous portions of lump crab meat with minimal breading—a quality I greatly appreciated. This approach allowed the natural sweetness of the crab to shine through, complemented by the owner's custom spice blend. Unlike typical seasonings, this blend was meticulously crafted to enhance the flavor without overwhelming it, providing a nuanced taste that was both savory and satisfying.
The steamed crabs were the highlight of our dining experience. Each crab was generously coated with the house-made seasoning, a perfect blend of spices that adhered beautifully to the shells. This custom blend, reminiscent of traditional Chesapeake Bay flavors, was notably less salty than conventional seasonings like Old Bay, allowing the delicate flavor of the crab meat to be the star of the dish.
Beyond the culinary delights, the owner's dedication to customer comfort was truly commendable. After our meal, as we awaited our Uber, the owner graciously stayed past closing time to ensure we had a warm place to wait, sparing us from the chilly evening air. This act of kindness exemplifies the exceptional service and genuine care that Crack and Juicy offers its patrons.
For those seeking a memorable seafood dining experience, Crack and Juicy is a must-visit. The combination of expertly prepared dishes, personalized seasoning, and outstanding hospitality sets it apart as a true gem in the...
Read moreHidden Gem: In town for the day, googled seafood near me (we were at the airport), and this came up. Read the reviews, the menu and when I drove up I knew this was the place for us. It is a carryout with a few tables that seat 4 people, meant my sister there so she could chat with her niece. They treat us with a piece of the best fried shrimp I've had in years (ps..I don't really like shrimp like that), but ordered some to go for my husband. We had catfish, trout, oysters, all fried, soup (I would use stewed tomatoes with the stocked and onions and celery, fresh corn, peas and okra but I'm a southern chef), onion rings, collard greens, and one young lady was eating whole crabs and someone else came and got some to eat in house during our visit they said they were delicious). We had plenty left over and will be enjoying the remainder for breakfast. The cashier/server was friendly, engaging and honest, the owner was great. I appreciated the vibe, it reminded me of my first restaurant. It's a gem worthy of seeking out, 14-20 minutes from the airport and worth the drive (I had a rental). We prayed for there continued success and headed out. PS. My husband warmed his food...
