I was interested in having an authentic Mexican meal, so I Googled it and Anaya's Restaurant was recommended. My first impression was pleasant. A very nice young woman showed me to my table and served me some tostadas and an absolutely delicious homemade salsa. I was interested in a combination plate, but I also wanted to taste a Chile relleno. My request to substitute was turned down flatly despite my offer to pay for the substitution. Instead, I was forced to order the chile relleno plate with a side order of a chicken taco. The taco was crunchy, but completely filled with well seasoned chicken, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. With the addition of the aforementioned salsa, the taco met all of my expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The chile relleno, however, was a bit less satisfying. The chile was well prepared, but, unfortunately, was so mild that it didn't deserve the name chile. It was generously filled with cheese, wonderfully melted. The sauce was tasty, but still too mild for my palate. Beans and rice were good, but somewhat limited in amount. A small (tiny) salad, which was part of the plate, was nothing to write home about, but it was dollopped with a small guacamole presence. The guacamole was really delicious! I wish the serving had been more pronounced. The flour tortillas were fresh and served hot, however I prefer larger, thicker tortillas. Cherry Pepsi was made for me using grenadine, and it was perfect. The refill was just as good as the original. The service was excellent. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed my meal at Anaya's Restaurant, but the rigidness against substitutions and the mildness of the relleno kept me from rating any higher. The taco and the delicious salsa were the standouts in the meal and the service...

I personally did not care for the food, which was really disappointing because I wanted to like it so much. The restaurant is decorated cute, and everyone was so nice. I have been looking for a Mexican restaurant here to replace our beloved go-to Mexican restaurant back in Chicago, so maybe my expectations are too high. So far the Mexican food here doesn't even compare. I'm assuming it's because customers here don't know what good Mexican food is and they accept this food as that. The rice and beans were fine. The chips were fine, the salsa was too spicy and not enough flavor. My boyfriend had enchiladas. I had chile rellenos, it was ok. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't good, the sauce was very strange. I actually wanted cheese enchiladas with mole sauce, the mole sauce was very good, (they let me try a cup of it before ordering) however they are not on the menu, which is peculiar, because not everyone eats meat. They said they could make cheese only, but it would be the same price as the chicken mole ones. I don't think so. If chicken is more expensive to add, why would I pay the same price for cheese only. Then the worst part of all. I understand Chihuahua cheese is expensive, however if you are going to charge the prices they do, then I expect real Chihuahua cheese, not orange cheese out of a bag. The prices in this restaurant were high compared to restaurants in Chicago, and some other places around here, and they don't even include items on the side. With the entrée I got a tiny pile of shredded lettuce, no tomato, no sour cream, no cilantro, no onion. It was a very disappointing experience, I will not be going back here. I am still looking for amazing Mexican food if anyone has any...

Went here tonight, omg how the other reviews were positive is beyond me, I had a disgusting experience. Walking in the door foul smell i thought maybe different smells from various dishes. My daughter got a sewer smell. The seating and service was ok, food and plates were hot, but overpriced. 20 minutes after eating my stomach was horrible sick. I went in to restroom and that is where things went south,,,cockroachs running around the bath room, there were also two baby cockroaches totally disgusting, its bad I couldn't get out of there fast enough! The bill was $40 plus 17 tip, had no drinks, I deserve a full refund and the heath department should be called, I cant nor did I want to imagine what had been crawling in or over plates and/or food, this thought still makes me sick to think of it. I will not go back ever and if you value your health I'd choose a different place to dine if I were you! yuck! If there were that family of roaches in bathroom imagine what is in the kitchen! ...

I'm from the northeast, so take this with a grain of salt. I could only see myself complaining about the price, given the fare - but the taste is 100% worth it (and affordability should not affect rating in a quality-based review anyway). That said, the restaurant interior has a warm and colorful traditional mexican decor with gentle latin music. The staff are gracious and it is not hard to tell that they value your patronage, from the host nicknaming you 'amigo' to the kind elderly waitress reminiscent of an abuela you never had. I tried the enchilada, taco, and tamale. I could taste the freshness of the lettuce, tomato, cheese, and salsa (all of which I believe were prepared by hand and not frozen/packaged). I was not able to try the ground beef, but the shredded beef and chicken were similarly excellent. This is exactly the kind of mexican food one would dream of if they were a tourist like myself. A+.

First time here. What a pleasant surprise! I ordered the tortilla soup, the seafood enchiladas, and a side of guacamole with iced tea. Chips and salsa were supplied as well. Chips were warm, fresh and crispy. Salsa was spicier than I'm used to, but delish. The tortilla soup was AMAZING and HUGE! A full meal by itself. It came piping hot, with many large chunks of chicken in it. It came with avocado and cheese and strips on the side. So, so good! The side of guac I ordered was excellent. The seafood enchiladas were great. Every single bite had seafood in it. Warm creamy sauce on tip. I was in heaven. It came with sides of Spanish rice (better than normal) and refried beans. The iced tea was perfect. All total without tips, it costs $38. I can eat a healthy amount of food, but I didn't even finish half, so it's truly two meals. Very worth it. I highly recommend this place.

This restaurant was lovely. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very nice. I love the Mexican vibe and the decor is super pretty with all the wonderful colors that make you feel nice inside. When I went it was not packed and I was able to be seated right away. I had a couple of margaritas which tasted very yummy. The guy at the bar was cool and attentive. The wait for the food was pretty decent and to be honest I didn't care since I was busy drinking my margarita while I waited and didn't notice the time go by. I would definitely go back again when in the area. Highly recommend!
