Dinah’s Family Restaurant is legendary on the Westside, and Dinah’s Fried Chicken is a stalwart in Glendale. And even though they were both part of a six location franchise, neither is affiliated, despite the fact that they share the same font, logo, and fried chicken bucket. @dinahsfriedchicken @dinahsfamilyrestaurant Let’s get into it! #Glendale #CulverCity #Westchester #LosAngeles #LAInaMinute #FriedChicken #dinahs #DinahsFriedChicken #dinahsfamilyrestaurant

Dinah's is the quintessential classic fried chicken spot! Located on the east side of Los Angles—this place is a hidden gem tucked amidst the swank Galleria shopping district in the foothill enclave of Glendale, California just beneath the Vergudo Mountains. The ambiance is a perfect blend of folksy and traditional with carved wooden furniture and ornamental decór laid about in a fashion not dissimilar to what one might expect to see in an old guard Dixieland dining room of a grand home in the southern United States. The seats, tables, and flatware were all exceptionally clean and the restroom areas were also noticeably well-kept. Service was top-notch with polite and pleasant staff readily available at every turn. Food was served within minutes of placing our orders and came out piping hot with generous portions and no room for regrets. We ordered the Chicken Dinners, which come with three pieces of perfectly crispy golden fried chicken along with two sides and a dinner roll. My order included mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, and an extra chicken drumstick for $1 as part of the Friday Special. The potatoes were rich and smooth. The mac was creamy, oozing with cheese, and it had a perfect bite to the pasta. And the dinner rolls were as to be expected. I could not have been happier, as this place satisfied my every craving for southern comfort food without all of the off-putting qualities of a standard, fast-food chicken spot. If you're in the mood for a good fried chicken dinner the way it should be done, at a reasonable price, Dinah's is the way to go. Five Stars across the board.

Nothing like I expected! Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to fried chicken. I swear they must pressure cook their chicken because the chicken is cooked to perfection, especially the coating they use for their chicken. It's light and crispy. I say it's cooked to perfection because the meat just fell off from the bone. When you cook fried chicken, there are different degrees when preparing chicken. They nailed it. Cooked to perfection. I can't explain it. Super tender and JUICY. You know when chicken is cooked well done because it will be dry. With Dinah's Chicken, it's soft and falls off the bone. NOT DRY. IT'S DELICIOUS. The breading isn't thick and it's just right and not so greasy! Our friends told us that there were all kinds of sides that we missed out on like, cornbread and macaroni and cheese because we got the coleslaw and macaroni salad. WTH. The coleslaw is lightly sweet and has pineapple. Somehow it tastes like Hawaiian macaroni salad but instead, it's coleslaw made into heaven?!!! Next time, I'm buying two of the large sides of the pineapple coleslaw! Their macaroni salad is on point, too. The macaroni pasta was cooked al dente and once you have a bite of the salad, it takes you back to some good days at a July 4th cookout with your friends. Everything was so delicous! It came with dinner rolls and honey, too. The rolls were extremely soft - not a day old. Yum. We will definitely be back to try the other sides like the cornbread, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob and stuffing!!!

I wasn't planning on coming here. I got there because I went to the next door business with my friend when I saw the sign that said that the chicken pot pie was $6. It was a rainy day so it sounded good to me. I got two pies, one for my friend and one to take home. And for the record, I'm a baker. I love to cook and I love making pies. I sell chicken pot pies for special events for friends and family when requested, I know what a good chicken pot pie tastes like. I also know how the frozen stuff from the cheapest brand at the dollar store tastes like because when we're in a hurry, that's what my kids choose for dinner, yes, that brand that comes in a red color box. Well, back to my review. I went back home and was very excited to try it. It's a very tiny pie, barely enough for one person, but it's okay, it's only $6, seems fair. Until you actually try it...my goodness, I was totally disappointed and I can't confirm but I'm almost certain that those are the same pies from the dollar store. Freshly made pies taste different, taste good and actually fresh, they're crispy and flaky, and they're supposed to be better than what we get at the dollar store for $1.29, but nope, these pies even come in the same microwave safe pie pan that those little pies from the red box. This is a restaurant, they can do better. The service was good, the atmosphere was nice, but the only item I tried came from the microwave, from a frozen box. I could have gotten 4 or 5 pies from the dollar store with what I paid here for the exact same thing.

Easily the best fried chicken in Los Angeles County, Dinah’s chicken is cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection, and this can NOT BE OVERSTATED. Perfectly crispy on the outside, and super JUICY on the inside, you’re not going to find anything better in town. The dressing and cranberry sauce tastes like your grandmas, and the potatoes are freshly made. The gravy is a lovely addition to any side. The potato salad is not chunky and filled with mustard and eggs like most. This is a more smooth potato salad, with bell peppers, and onions, so take note. Their to-go menu is ample, and they have a ton of really great deals for take-out only if taking your food home is what you’re searching for. Their deserts are homemade and absolutely decadent. The pie selection here is spectacular, and I haven’t had a better one, even at my own grandmothers. The service here is also great. Refills are quick, and they’re attentive without being obnoxious. They clearly aim to please here, and the one time that I had a side order mixup, it was fixed within 30-seconds. The kitchen manager usually visits each table. In terms of Covid-19, all the inside tables are partitioned off, but not in a way that would make you feel imprisoned, and they have a large outdoor eating space. I can not say enough good things about Dinah’s. There’s a good reason they’ve been around for more than 50-years. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out!

I have been passing by this place for a long time and never thought to actually eat or get their chicken. Went here for dinner and you know what the food was good. They have an all day menu and they have chicken, fish and shrimp etc. I would have put a 5 star in here if the mac n cheese was actually made and not the crackle barrel boxed mac and cheese. Cause my husband is a mac n cheese expert lol and he's had most of the boxed mac n cheese and he said it was crackle barrel. lol but let us talk about the chicken. The chicken is lightly battered, seasoned perfectly cooked. i didn't need anything with it. I liked how they had apple butter on their table for the bread they served. the battered fish is cod. and it's not all breading and quite tasty. I and the ambiance of the place is really nice. So will come back of we are around the area. Highly recommend!
