Roobic's Cafe — Restaurant in Glendale

Angry and disappointed. I really wanted Mediterranean food.

So I order takeout from Roobic's Cafe on Verdugo, through GrubHub. Once I get there, I see through the front windows that it's a small place, with an ordering counter, a few tables, and the only people there are two men sitting at one of the tables, one with a mask around his neck, one not wearing one at all. If they're guests who are eating there, okay, that's one thing.

But I walk in, and the man not wearing a mask at all looks at me, gets up, picks a mask up OFF OF A NEARBY TABLE WITH TWO OTHER MASKS LAYING ON IT, starts to put it on, and gets back behind the counter. I say, "I'm here to pick up." He says, 'Ten minutes.' I ask, "Was there any safety involved in preparing this food?" and he doesn't understand what I'm saying.

Just then a man (wearing a mask) walks in and asks if I need help. I tell him I was there to pick up, but nobody here was wearing a mask and I ask him if any safety was involved in food preparation. He says 'it's totally safe but if you want to cancel the order-' and I say, "Yes, let's cancel it."

Fortunately, my bank processed a refund claim immediately.

I don't care what the stats are regarding foodborne infection or surface contaminants. A business is in no position to take chances with the safety of its staff OR its customers. When you have staff socializing without any precautions and 'their' protective wear thrown on a table for casual use, that's not good enough for a restaurant. And definitely not good enough for someone who knows people who have been infected with, fallen ill with, and actually died from COVID-19.

Roobic's Cafe. Care about safety?...

Im going to be completely honest. This is one of the best places you can get a sandwich at in Glendale. Simple, yet delicious. Very healthy as well. Many places will have giant sandwiches that taste terrible, but Roobic's sticks to the basics and does them incredibly well. This is a must try in Glendale. 100%

1. Chipotle Chicken Panini - 5/5. The best panini I have had in Glendale. Heres whats great about it. It looks like a solid panini and tastes great. The cheese is blended right in and pulls as you take a bite, which enhances the eating experience in my opinion. Tomatoes added sweetness to the savory chipotle sauce. Ordered the Falafel appetizer, the Chipotle wrap, and the Beef& Chicken combo plate. To go. The order came with hummus and tzaziki sauce. The falafel was crispy outside and moist inside. It was amazing. The Chipotle wrap was super juicy, smoky, and delicious. The pickled cabbage was so good with it. The Beef and Chicken combo plate came with the best rice I had in a while. The Beef was well seasoned and the chicken was also cooked perfectly. Definitely going back to this spot. 5 Stars all the way around on the food. The server was helpful with the menu suggestions.
