Starlite Lounge — Restaurant in Glendale

It’s extremely disappointing to have to share such a disappointing experience. On first meeting the karaoke host and simply being polite saying “ma’am, may I please sing a song” and being scolded by the host who is clearly a woman that she in fact does not identify as the sex she so clearly is, I was taken back by the aggressive nature in which she handled that. I however accepted and respected her statements. We started going back to this place on karaoke nights multiple times, even winning the karaoke contest that I participated in. We truly were starting to like going here but never again! The group I was with wanted to sing bump and grind but was immediately told absolutely not. When asked why we were told because the host simply doesn’t like the artist of the song. Here is where the problem lies. As a karaoke host, you are paid to be there for the customers of the bar. You’re not being paid to lecture, educate, or embarrass the bar’s customers in anyway. Furthermore, watching this place slowly turning into some sort of trans/gay bar on karaoke nights is not my forte either but seeing how I’m there to drink and sing I honestly couldn’t have cared less about the crowd of others there but I do have to say, how ironic is that? This place hires someone who is incredibly rude and reprimands is guest for not conforming or engaging to her personal lifestyle choices, and demands the bars guest being open or ok to all that and she will aggressively confront a guest who simply looks uncomfortable because they just saw two humans of unknown orientations showing at times way to much PDA. It sad because in the few months we’ve been going I’ve been witness to and informed by no less than 7 other people that they will never go back to karaoke there due to the host, and now myself and the 4 friends of our group won’t either due to the host and her “agenda”. There is a reason people say the two things you should never talk about at a bar, politics...

Well I ain't mad at it! If you're into dive bars like me this place is pretty legit! Heavy pours, decent beer selection, decent stage area. I liked how their pool tables were arranged so you could see the band over the little wall but it still felt like they were segregated a bit (they're quarter tables too so bring change). The only complaint I have is the patio space! It has potential but the tables were so run down and warped from beer spills, and they all have a lip around the edge like old poker tables so all the liquid and leaves that were covering everything just got caught on them so sitting on the patio made me feel a little dirtier than I was aiming for. If the patio was better maintained I'd definitely give 5 stars but I'll be back to check out...

Went here with some friends(6 of us total) to see a band on Saturday. We had 2 pregnant girls with us that were our designated drivers for the night. Both of the designated drivers had 2 Shirley temples(sprite and cherry juice) We were charged $3 per soda and refills are $3.00. Most Bars will give the DD free soda or water . My total bill was $25.00. I had 4 shots of bottom shelf vodka @ $4.75 a shot and $3.00 per soda! Wont be back unless its too see a specific band. The 2 other couples with us agreed they would not go back unless it was to support a band. The bar was pretty much dead except for us and maybe 4 other people....
