Sat at the bar our first time here thinking we’d have a beer with the chef....this is not that place. Walked in at 6:30 and every table was full but only one table was eating. Everyone else looked frustrated -and I realized why 50 minutes later when our first order of nigiri came out! One chef one waitress for 20 customers is just cheap. Chef is too rushed for any conversation and I can name about a half dozen sushi spots in LA county I’ve had better quality fish at for less. It was the only place open after 10pm on a Saturday in Glendora. It was full of people. One waitress. Service was slow. The food just wasn’t very good. I can’t explain it. We ordered 4 or 5 different fancy named rolls. I always make sure one has cream cheese, one has spicy tuna, one has eel & one has salmon skin. And no matter where I go I’ve never disliked anything so much that I simply could not swallow one piece of it & I had this experience with 3 different rolls we ordered. I might give it another try. Never had sushi better. I've been to the high end spots like Nobu and the like. None get it as right as Richie does at this humble little location off of Grand Ave. Yes it may take a little longer to get your food, but it is WORTH the wait. He knows how to make the flavor profile of each fish sing, with subtle garnishing of his own invention. You are not going to find better quality sushi anywhere around the LA County area, and if there is I certainly haven't experienced it yet. This place is a must try.
