It’s a wee bit difficult finding consistent street tacos around Golden. Was very excited to see the food truck opening its restaurant location across the street from where the truck was. I’ve been in 4 times now and have found my local taco spot. Complimentary chips and salsa (the salsa has varied slightly in preparation each time, which is great). Fun daily deals (2 for 1 margaritas on Monday, 2 dollar taco Tuesdays, etc.). The tacos: superb. Would recommend the a la carte orders for 3 bucks/taco and get 4 or 5. They come with full jalapeños as a side (careful, the spice factor varies) and grilled onions. As a carne asada guy myself, I was astounded by the flavor of the pastor, the house made chorizo, and the carnitas. They are superior. La Huacha is also known for its salsas (they were originally selling salsas before running their taco truck, if I’m not mistaken), which rounds out the taco experience for me. I’d recommend asking your waiter about the different salsas they have, to bring out in addition to whatever salsa comes with your taco order (if you’re a flavor-filled spice fan, you won’t be disappointed; my taste buds are happy while I breathe and pant heavily). I took home a massive plastic container of flavor filled salsa for 8 bucks. The corn tortillas are also solid.
I haven’t tried their other meals, but my friends have. The meals look solid, but if you come to the restaurant, their strong point is definitely their tacos and salsas. Staff is incredibly friendly. Hoping this place takes off as a local spot. 15 dollars for 5...
Read moreFinally found authentic Mexican food in the Golden/Denver area!
I moved to Golden from Austin about two years ago, and honestly, my taste buds have been pretty disappointed with the food scene here compared to what I was used to back home.
Austin spoiled me when it comes to incredible Mexican food, and I've been struggling to find anything that even comes close... until I discovered La Huacha.
This is hands down the first Mexican restaurant I've tried in Colorado that I would consider extremely high quality - it genuinely reminds me of the amazing spots I used to frequent in Austin. The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and everything tastes fresh and made with care. I finally feel like I've found a place that understands what good Mexican food should taste like.
What makes it even better is that the staff here is incredibly friendly - they make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. And the prices?! Especially for Colorado standards, they're extremely reasonable. I was honestly shocked at how affordable everything is, considering the quality you're getting.
If you're looking for real Mexican food, do yourself a favor and check out La Huacha. It's become my go-to spot and has restored my faith in finding good Mexican food...
Read moreI had some family come to town from South Dakota and I asked my cousin if he would like to go get a nice steak or some good Mexican Food and thankfully he chose Mexican, since he said its non exsistent in SD. Mind you my cousin is originally from SoCal and his wife is from Northern California and know good Mexican. The pressure was on to find real good Mexican food near his hotel and thank God I chose La Huacha which used to operate a taco truck for years and now have their own place. The hardest part with going to Mexican restaurants with my wife unfortuately, is that she is alergic to onions and peppers and almost everything has or is marinated in onions and peppers. Our server brought out the kitchen manager and she spent time with my wife to find out what she likes and what she CAN and CAN'T have. My wife said that was the best meal she has had at any Mexican restaurant since living in Colorado for the past 16 years. The rest of the meals were amazing, especially the shrimp and the al pastor tacos. One of the plates was the chicken enchiladas. Aweome bar and margartias as well. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! The attenction given to us...
