SERVICE: one star SLOW SLOW SLOW SERVICE! WARNING PEOPLE ON AN HOUR OR 1/2 HOUR LUNCH! Call in 2 hours to 3 hours ahead of time. FOOD: 4 stars! DECOR/CLEANLINESS: two stars PRICE: 2 stars (no fountain, pay by bottle soda- $$$ menu) I am changing my review of this place as much as I love the crispy rolls. Today i go to lunch with my two sons. One is on his lunch hour. We sit down at 1pm. The waiter/owner is at the register waiting on a line of folks. Ten minutes later he comes to our table and hands us a menu, takes our drink orders. My son on lunch says 'coke and a water" Five minutes later he comes back with our drinks, no water. He takes our order. 3 orders of crispy rolls, two sweet n sour chicken, one fried rice with no meat. "No meat?" "nope, no meat" We watch the man bring out many bags of take out, we see people enter and leave only to come back later, the bell from the kitchen is ringing, the woman is yelling and is obviously mad, the man goes back and I hear him yelling and he comes out with a bag of take out. Finally our crispy rolls arrive....30 minutes after ordering and is one order short. Only 2 orders. The sauce to dip is just a teaspoon and the rolls are just lukewarm. 20 minutes after we get our rolls the sweet and sour arrive. My one son said it was different, still good but had mini corn that it never has had before. My son that was supposed to be back at work said he only got 3 small pieces of chicken, good but wasn't worth the wait or the high price. Me, still waiting on my fried rice. The man says "you want egg" Yeah, I just don't want meat. He brings it out 5 minutes later. Under cooked rice and egg....that's it. No veggies of any kind to be found. No onion, no cilantro, no cucumber...nothing that they normally have. I mention it to the man. He says that's what I wanted, no veggies. "NO MEAT" He was going to make it again. "No..we've been waiting over an hour to get our food already. My son has to get back to work. Not going to wait another hour" Taken off the bill for the wait, the screw ups, cold food, etc? Nope, paid in full. Will I be back? As much as I love the food, NOPE. Not worth the crappy service or the cost. Nope. I'm done. Here's a thought...people going there during the week at lunch are normally on their LUNCH HOUR. Meaning they have to be back to work in an...
Read moreDrove all the way from Fort Bragg to attend the Lantern Festival in Goldsboro which turned out to be a scam. Pissed off with two kids who were cold and hangry, we walked to the closest restuarant. As soon as we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised. It was like we walked into grandma's house. The decor is so personal and interesting unlike other typical Thai restuarants. We were immediately greeted by this little woman with a big smile named Chef Janet. She sat us right away and shortly after Peter started taking care of us like we were family. As soon as we ordered, our entrees started coming out. The drunken noodles are to die for. Coming from an Asian ethnicity this food is legit. I had to stop myself from ordering another serving because we still had the Red Curry, Chicken Fried Rice and Meatball noodle soup on the way. The red curry was so good. My kids killed the chicken and fried rice and almost all my noodle soup. Just when we thought we were done, Chef Janet surprised us with her Pad Thai. I love Pad Thai and never in my life have I had a version like hers. It's so sweet unlike others that drench on the fish sauce. Her cooking reminds me of my mom. An old lady who hovers over the stove until all her kids are stuffed and happy. My kids wouldn't stop giving her and Peter high fives and hugs. At one point I wanted to hug her and beg her to teach me the recipes (lol)! Can't wait to come back and try...
Read moreAbsolutely love this ma and pa joint. Truly Authentic like back home in Thailand. Pad Lad Na made with Chinese broccoli which is what this dish is originally made with. I will say when you go in to this place you need to let them know you want it thai style and not American Thai. (American Thai is when they add color to the dish like Chinese do. They add like corn, peas carrots etc.) I love the authentic style, it is what I was raised on and how it should be served. The Chicken Satay is a nice appetizer originally grilled and not deep fried like others do as a short cut. Deep fry kind of takes away from the flavor for this one. Sometimes it is a wait but only because ma cooks each dish to perfection for each customer. I highly recommend this place. It is worth the wait. In my travels coming threw I always stop here for that taste of home. Not many places do authentic anymore so when you find ones that does, they are keepers.
Just a note, if a Thai place doesn't come out with condiments for your dishes then it is not Authentic Thai. They always have variety of hot sauces and peppers to add to your dishes when brought out. You should never have to ask for the condiments that go with the dish. It is a common thing in Thai Restaurants in Thailand so it should be no different here unless it's not Authentic. Hope this helps all that are looking for the real deals. So-Wat-Dee-Ka...
