So we stopped in for dinner and unfortunately this did not do it for us. The place has a lot of potential and the gentleman working behind the bar was so nice and worked very hard to make us have a pleasant experience. The first thing that was odd is that there are zero taps and I don't mean zero Irish beers on tap I mean no tap beer whatsoever. There was plenty of bottle and cans to choose from but there wasn't a list available so even ordering a drink is difficult. While looking at the whiskey selection I was disappointed to see the only options for Irish whiskey was Jameson, I'm not expecting everyplace to carry a huge variety but am "Irish Pub"should have at least 2 or 3 choices available. The food was presented nicely and the young man working the bar was also cooking which I can appreciate him doing both jobs, as far as the taste and quality of the food it was subpar so much to the point while we were eating our meals he had Food delivered from somewhere else while we were there, if that isn't a big red flag about the food then idk what is. Sadly I don't think there would be any reason for us to...
Read moreI am rewriting my review as they have made some changes.
Understand this is a pub. The food is based on that. East to eat, and Irish in theme.
Food: They have a new menu. In my experience I have had two of their burgers. The Whiskey Burger and the bacon burger. Both had great flavors. And the price isn't too bad. $11-12 each with a side. The onion rings are spot on. Bite into them and it breaks free with a crisp bite. (You don't bite in and take the entire onion out of the batter)
As previously mentioned, the Buffalo Dip is good. Comes with pita bread. Tasty.
I play pool.leagur here and they have changed to a coin (quarter) operated table. Standard $1 per game.
There is also pool accessories available. Nothing major. A few cues and other items.
The atmosphere is good. Beer is cold, staff is great.
Maybe one day I'll branch out more for some of the other items.
My cost rating is based only on the food cost. This doesn't...
Read moreI love this place! When I lived in Raleigh, Tir Na Nog was my Irish Pub hangout. When I saw a pub coming to Goldsboro, I was so excited. I'm older now, so I don't hang out at bars much any more, however the times I have been here, service at the bar, or for food, was immediate, excellent, and accurate. The food was hot, the quality was excellent, and it was delicious. There is a wide range of drinks to choose from, but Harp Lager is my go to. And this place was one of the first to open on John Street, leading a revival of downtown (business and nightlife). There are now several restaurants and bars on John and Center Streets, but this was one of the pioneers. Definitely stop in here if you're in town. Get here early for good parking though, especially when they have...
