Habit Burger & Grill — Restaurant in Goleta

I don’t recommend this place at all. The food quality is ok. The place is small and feels very overcrowded. It doesn’t look clean at all . I have issues with the workers here. I don’t like being lied to and that is my main issue. The issue happened back in October of 2023. I had told the cashier I need to split the bill into two forms of payment. I was charged for the full amount on the first credit card I used and I immediately asked for a refund and to redo the transaction. The cashier was confused what to do and someone else stepped in. We discussed the issue for about a minute and it appeared he did not want to deal with the issue so he then allegedly told me the food was going to be free and he was just going to issue a refund. I insisted I wanted to pay but he ensured me to not worry about it. I was with a colleague of mine and he left a very generous tip of over 10$. We are now 2 months later and I never received that refund. I was clearly lied to and I did multiple inquiries on the habit listens and I never got a reply back from any manager. We were in Old Town Goleta and smelled the aroma of The Original (the first) Hamburger Habit. The aroma was enticing, and caused us to crave burgers from this location. This is the first location my mother brought me to as a kid. She always loved getting the steak sandwich and ate it with little yellow chilies. Seating at this location is all outdoor patio seating, with some heaters to keep you warm. I ordered a Double Char with cheese and Chili-Cheese fries. The original location is the only location where one can get a Chili Burger or Chili-Cheese fries. I had my chili fries with those cute little yellow chilis, and all that was missing were some delicious white, raw onions on my fries. At first I looked at the fries, which appeared over overcooked and lukewarm (which I dislike). The chili seemed lukewarm as well. When I combined them however, they were perfect and hit the spot!! I was totally craving chili cheese fries. The patties on the burger initially seemed overcooked, but the burger was delicious and also hit the spot! The burger had delicious shredded lettuce, and yummy tomatoes. I put the residual mayo lettuce on top of my fries, and it was great! I enjoy observing guests at they arrive here at the OG Habit. This place is always gaining fans. Even though this location is part of the publicly traded, multi-store corporation, it still has a lot of original soul. Gosh I miss being able to order a beer, but that ship has sailed. What I appreciated today is how many more parking spaces there are up and down Hollister due to the Project Connect efforts of the city. If you have been avoiding this location because of parking, you ought to come back. If you go out looking for good food using a bicycle, you'll be extra pleased at how safe Hollister feels now that there are lanes for cyclists. Also, it was one of the first cold afternoons of the winter and they turned on heaters. I was sitting outside but felt cozy as I consumed a Santa Barbara style burger....
