Oct. 7, 2021 Today, I clearly should NOT have visited Liz's kitchen. First off the cashier whose name I believe is Jamonica (wearing a bed sleep bonnet) lacks the social and people skills to be in that position. Her conversation was extremely inappropriate. When checking out, I stated I didn't need a plastic bag because I was going to eat my meal in my car. She them starts her verbal attack! "You scared huh?" "...and you gonna get it, you gonna get it cause you scared, loud and emphatically. She continues talking so loud, semi-yelling where everyone in the front room could hear her "you gonna get the virus cause you scared and wearing a mask and didn't want a plastic bag for your to-go-box. What is this child's problem? I stated back to her, no not scared, vac'd and taking extra precaution due to my age and health. I rebuked her immediately and told her she was wrong and shouldn't be saying that to anyone. She proceeded to argue with me. When I responded to her crazy rant she became even louder and insistent that I was going to contract covid. She is beyond inappropriate and should never be speaking something so vile to any customer. Everyone's situation is different and she needs to respect that. Second, I ordered the sausage and sauerkraut. The sausage was so dry it had cracks in it and was inedible. I returned it and got chicken and dumplings instead. Some of the dumplings were brown and burnt and the burnt taste caused the whole dish to be burnt flavored. 🤢 Yuck. (See 2nd photo) The vegetable side dishes were okay. When I called from the parking lot to ask regarding exchanging my food, this same girl gave much attitude. I asked several times to speak to either the owner or to whoever was in charge. She stated the owner Liz and and the manager Veronica would not be back until tomorrow. Funny because when I went back in to exchange my food, I saw a handful of people who appeared they could be in charge. I believe she just didn't want me to speak to anyone because she knew she was waaaaayyyyy out of order. The lady that I'm used to seeing at the check out is always very nice, but not this girl. Jamonica is loud, rude, disrespectful and just plain inappropriate!!! Very disappointed with today's visit, as normally I enjoy Liz's kitchen. Will seriously consider if I, my family or friends will ever return. April 16, 2021 First time on Friday April 16th and was not disappointed. I only wish they had a daily chicken dish as my friend does not eat beef or pork. Was enough for 2 meals. Photo is of half of my meal which consisted of hamburger steak, green beans with potato's and cabbage. I actually mixed some of the juice from the hamburger steak onto my vegetables which was very tasty. I tried the homemade banana pudding which was not too sweet. Will definitely return. Decent prices for Southern Cooking!

This is a Black-Owned meat & three restaurant located across the street from the Goodlettsville Community Center. I almost missed it because the sign out front just says, Meat and Three". It's Friday, so of course I had the catfish with hush puppies, Broccoli salad and mashed potatoes and gravy. I almost got a side of spaghetti though #midweststandup #naptown. I had sweet tea with lemon to drink (It's the SOUF). The atmosphere was nice and there's about 16 tables in the restaurant with plenty of parking on both sides of the building. There was about a 60%/40% racially-mixed split between the patrons, but let me tell you, the Seniors ❤ this place. They will even ask if they can eat with you if you have room at your table and there's no other seating available. The food was seasoned by channeling in the Ancestors. Now, the owner told me that she doesn't give out their WIFI password, but she was kind enough to enter it on my phone. It went out about 7 minutes into my meal, but it's all good. There were plenty of patrons that got their food to go, but you might want to call it in if you go that route. I'd give them an 8/10 just because of the small amount of neglect from my server & the fact that macaroni & cheese wasn't on the menu. They had macaroni & tomatoes instead. MUAH BABES ❤💛 #mooregivingmore

This restaurant was busy most of the Sunday we visited. Constant line of take out so even though there is adequate parking, it could require parking in other locations. This speaks to the quality and portions of delicious food served here. The staff are helpful, strive to provide quality southern cooking, and are personable. I ordered 2 catfish fillet, greens, mash potatoes/with brown gravy, and 1 each jalapeño and regular cornbread muffin. My wife ordered the chicken over mashed potatoes with brown gravy, green beans, Mac n cheese, and corn bread muffin. It all was delicious and since the portions were large enough to fill us, we ordered 2 banana puddings to go.The patrons that you may be sharing a table with are great fun and made this a unique experience. We personally will stop into Liz's Kitchen whenever we pass through again.

Absolutely the best catfish in Nashville! I’ve been eating here for almost 2 years and have never tried anything else!!!! The catfish isn’t dredged in flour or batter … just a light dusting of cornmeal so it comes out CRUNCHY yet inside moist and flavorful. EVERY TIME!

I’ve tried catfish in over 20 places and sometimes it tastes like mildew smells— a place named Arnold’s had that—horrible! Others the batter is thick, sometimes not well cooked through, gummy, oily. And some the fish is so thin you can barely taste it! Liz’s WINS by a long shot!

The sides are not fancified— they are simple and just plain good! The mashed potatoes are real (a lot of places have started using dehydrated) and silky, like my Gram’s. The green beans don’t have ham base; they have little pieces of real pork and often chucks of potato (I love them and always ask for extras.). The pintos and black eyed peas are SO good; sometimes I buy a pint to take home! Other sides are great too… and the meat/main selection is large—but I can’t evaluate! Never tried any! I hear people going crazy over the fried chicken livers, fried chicken, beef tips and Bubba’s ribs…

I’ve been coming for almost 2 years and today finally hit the chess pie! Really, really good— I’ve had only one better in KY 40 years ago:)))) The crust was perfect… not gummy or dry…and the filling was wonderful (just a bit sweeter than the one I still remember:)

The whole family and wait staff are welcoming, offer great service and treat regulars like family. Since the fish is fried fresh, I have a wait and each time witness laugh-filled as well as touching, concerned conversations between staff and guests.

On a scale of 1-10, Liz’s Kitchen is 100! I’m now a 40 min drive away but I try to get up at least one a month… It’s worth the time...

UPDATE . . . Based on the reply to my earlier review, I am updating my review to 3 stars. I appreciate how hard it is to run a full service restaurant as I do have some experience before. As I said, I have visited Liz's before, and will again in the future. Hopefully, it will be open the next time I drive to Goodlettsville, and I can give them the review I truly think they deserve. Hope you enjoyed your much deserved time off. Sorry to hear about your Mom, and wish your father the best.

My wife and I live in Spring Hill, and today we decided that we would take the over hour long drive to Goodlettsville and go to Liz's Kitchen. We had gone there before, and were very pleased with our meat and three dinners. We checked on Google, and it said the restaurant was open until 2pm. So, since it was already 12pm, we hurried up and got on the road. We got to Liz's at around 1:15, and saw an empty parking lot. We walked up to the front door and saw a sign saying they were closed from June 23rd (I believe) to July 6th. Needless to say we were very disappointed.

I recognize that running a restaurant is a difficult, tiring, business, as I ran a small bakery restaurant myself some years ago, and I definitely believe that the owners have every right to close and take some much needed rest.

However, I do think they should be mindful of the fact that some of their customers, such as my wife and I, come a significant distance, and they should update their schedule of hours when they are going to be closed outside of regular hours. It is the professional, considerate thing to do.

I will give Liz's another try in the future, and will update my review at that time. Until then, I can only register my complaint by issuing a 1...
