Wow, not the best meal I've had here. Arrived around 5pm for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated in the bar as per our request as we could get right in. Our server was Toni and she greeted us promptly and took our drink order. The are tons of choices here that I love and I always have a hard time deciding. She brought the beverages and I decided on the special of chicken cordon bleu with 2 sides for $9.99. Hubby choose the fish basket and fries for $7.99 and a side of mozzarella sticks for $5.99. My salad arrived which is a good sized bowl of what I call fu fu lettuce (mixed greens) with cherry tomatoes, crasins and croutons. Our dinners arrived about 15 minutes later. My dinner consisted of a deep fried chicken breast that was no more than 4 bites with thinly sliced lunch meat ham and a slice of cheese on top and a baked potato. Hubby's consisted of 3 large pcs of freshly deep fried fish and a huge basket of thin cut fries along with his mozzarella sticks and chunky marinara sauce. I was shocked. We have been coming here for years and never had this bad of meal. My husband commented to me about my chicken when he saw the size and that I was having a hard time cutting it. I tried to just eat but it was noticeable that it was over cooked and hard. I ate a couple bites and Toni came over to check on us and asked how everything was. We typically do not complain but I was so shocked at the meal. My husband quickly replied that it wasn't the best and the size of the chicken breast had shrink over the last couple weeks since we were there last and ordered chicken then too. She stated that the portions are weighed. I explained that I normally I get the "carbless" to which she offered there are 2 breasts on that entree which is true but you have the choice of getting 1 breast and a hamburger patty which is what I get. Then she stated that they have had trouble with the chicken breast sizes recently and that mgmt knew about the unhappy customers. She went back and had the cook deep fry up another one for me which was much better and not overcooked. Not sure what happened recently here with either mgmt changes or food buying changes but the changes are extremely noticeable. We will stop back again at some point but not happy with this meal. Hubby's dinner was very good, I've always enjoyed the fish, plentiful and golden tender. Everyone is always attentive and very pleasant. Hoppers is more of a mature crowd and very rarely has screaming children. Usually a wait on the weekends. Several great weekly lunch specials for a low price that includes your drink. You usually are in and out in no time. They...
Read moreMy husband and I usually eat here on Friday evenings and we usually sit at the bar. The bar was busy so we decided To sit at the table in the bar. The service was not what we're used to.
When we ordered our food, I asked for extra cocktail sauce. When our food came our server did not bring extra cocktail sauce so I asked her if she could bring me some the next time she came around to our table. She said she would.
My meal was almost gone when I finally flagged down the young busboy and asked him if he could bring me some cocktail sauce. My husband and I both had a beer and our glasses sat empty for the better part of our meal. My husband wanted a glass of water and since our server never came back to check on us he never got that either. When our server brought us the bill, she didn't even acknowledge that our glasses were empty and she had never asked if we wanted anything else nor did she acknowlege that she never brought the cocktail sauce that I had asked for twice already.
Our experience tonight has increased our appreciation for the servers behind the bar because they pay attention to what the customer needs. Tonight was just a typical Friday night so I cannot say that it was overly busy. I just don't think our server delivered the same level of service that were used to. We will wait for a seat at the bar...
Read moreIt's a special weekend for me and I wanted something special. A friend recommended it, though they had only been there once. I googled it, and it was not far from my final destination, so I thought I'd give it a try. Prime Rib was on the Saturday night special board . since I wanted something special, I thought I'd give it a try. My first career was in the food service ( 40 years), and my husband was a chef, so you can imagine my view came from " my background." There are 8 seats at the bar and the place is small and busy. Every single person at the bar ordered prime rib! I can see why! The salad was delicious, with their own twist on it, my baked potato was "creamy" , meaning cooked perfectly, and the Prime Rib was superb. My only regret, I did not have a Manhattan. I understand they are known for these. I noticed a wide variety of whiskeys and burbons to choose from. One lady said "their special ingredient, smokey cherry, made them perfect ." I will try them again for sure, and next time, a Manhattan will...
