Flavorful Combos To Go
The best way to think about the Jefferson St. Los Primos is like a Subway or Chipotle, serving high-end, genuine Mexican food.
But to understand Los Primos, you need to dig into the restaurant's background. Los Primos began as a family-owned Restaurant on 122 E Clinton St. Focused on homestyle recipes and quality Mexican cuisine, this sit-down-style site earned steady success and eventually expanded to include a second location on Jefferson Street. The new site aimed to add speed to the Los Primos name, while staying faithful to their original culinary creations. And so they have.
Before going on, I should add a quick note: I'm Mexican. I know what's legit. I also like snagging quick meals at an affordable price. OK, let's continue....
✨Here's the pros: -If you're unfamiliar with Mexican cuisine, or what combos work best, no worries - the staff are friendly and happy to guide you through the process. -The meat is phenomenal and just as flavorful as the menu from the original site -It's not always listed, but the Chipotle Chicken is a must-have. Don't worry, it's not actually spicy. Look for the creamy meat sauce and ask for a sample--you won't be sorry. -This place is darn fast for a authentic Mexican restaurant!
💔Here are the cons: -Combine with care: if you think your burrito, taco, or quesadilla has too much sauce and is gonna be liquidy, it probably will be. Simple mixes are better. If new to Mexican, add refried beans or extra cheese to your selection to help the ingredients bind. -It's a tad pricy. Just a tad. But enough that I won't binge daily (probably...
Read moreI think they should have a “vegan/vegetarian” menu. If you order a meal that come with meat, but don’t want meat, they still charge you as if you’ve gotten meat, I think that’s petty. So I ordered a nacho with no meat, I should’ve gotten the meat, but on the side and given it to my meat eating partner. So instead she tells me she didn’t charge me for the guacamole, it was free because I ordered vegetarian, she then said the cheese sauce was free, because it ordered vegetarian. If you look at the “extras” I would only pay change for the guacamole and the cheese sauce. So it’s not equivalent if you ask me. They need to create a vegan menu, with updated pricing. I can go to Chipotle and get the same thing with no meat for $3 & change lesser… I also didn’t feel comfortable with my total charge because I think I was overcharged, the cashier enter the price so fast, and I do believe she still charged me for the guacamole and the cheese sauce, because when I added my total up, it was different by dollar amount, I was charged $18 & change for nachos no meat just rice beans veggies and cheese sauce. So if you care I’d recommend watching your total and mage sure they’re not overcharging you. This purposely overcharge has made me not want to comeback and dine with this restaurant again. It’s like don’t cheat people out of their money, that’s very low to do that to your customers, and I’m sure they do it all the time, especially to those paying with debit. So be careful, I really don’t recommend because of this...
Read moreThis was my first time here, and I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant for quite some time. Being a vegetarian, I anyways have a hard time finding some good dishes and I am glad to have found this on my friend's recommendation. We (my hubby and I) ordered a veggie burrito bowl and then I added another dish veggie quesadilla (which generally is my first choice always).. and he ordered beef burrito. He mentioned the meat was cold and it was not as good as he had hoped. I think he'd prefer more meat and warmer than all the toppings that came along. I sometimes keep low expectations just to be happier later if they surpass them. My food even though was slightly cold (now we did do take away and we live 10min from the place) but it was still full of flavor for me. Both my dishes came with their famous guac dip, so no complaints about that. I did pay extra for cheese and the main prices have increased (probably due to covid by $0.25). So the menu images are a bit dated. I'm glad the lady was able to close my quesadilla coz I generally like it filled as you can see from pics. The staff is bilingual so you can order carefree. The sitting inside is closed. There's no dessert items, though would have loved to see some churros. Overall, food I'd give a 4star, service 3star (did have to wait for other things happening in the background at the time of meal prep) and ambience would be a 3.5, if I...
