Must have been a bad night to take our family out for dinner to start off our New Year's Eve weekend? We called ahead to see how long the wait list was, they said 20 minutes so we headed to Mavericks Grille, when we arrived we were added to the wait list and told it would be up to 50 min before our party of 4 could be seated. We decided to wait because they had decent reviews, after 45 min of waiting We were informed that 14 people just walked in and sat down at a couple of tables and they allowed them to stay and now we might be seated in 35-40 min?? We were a little confused at this point but were eventually seated 35 min later. There are very limited options in Grandby, and we clearly chose the worst of them ! The food wasn't very good, I ordered a draft beer that was delivered to the table 3/4 full and flat?? I sent it back and changed the brand only to have to send the second one back because it tasted moldy?? I've never sent a beer back anywhere?? EVER? the waitress explained that they were aware of this issue with the beer taps, and they thought it might be due to freezing, Then why even offer it??? Luckily the rest of our New Year's Eve weekend was only up from there and we had excellent food, drinks, atmosphere and experiences at the Sagebrush in Grand Lake and a great brunch at the Fraser Valley Distillery to make up for how our first visit to Grand County...
Read moreSent me to the hospital. The service was ok, server was very nice. The food experience was not good. I got the country-fried steak. It was mostly fried batter, very little meat, drenched in a comically thick layer of gravy. It was very disappointing, but I ate most of it anyway. My wife's French Dip was packed with bay leaves, which are inedible!! She couldn't eat her meal and they took it off the bill. Fortunately, she opted not to get anything else from here.
Walking out of the restaurant, I felt like I shouldn't have eaten as much of my meal as I did. About a half hour later, I wasn't feeling great. The next morning, I woke up to explosive diarrhea and strong sulfuric burps. I gave it a day to work through my system and it was a miserable day. Halfway through the following night, I went to the hospital badly dehydrated and in bad shape. They injected meds, filled me with liquids, and took a stool sample. Lab results showed the food was contaminated. They said it was likely a kitchen worker who didn't wash their hands and didn't wear gloves (gross!).
I called the restaurant to let them know. They put the manager on the phone. I told them what happened and they said the owner would reach out to me within a day or two. That was about 2 weeks ago.
Terrible experience from start to miserable finish. Please do not go here, you've...
Read moreWe had an unbelievably bad dinner here on Friday 10/11/24. We sat down to an unwashed table. We asked for it to be wiped down. Then we ordered. It took quite a while to get a fried pickle appetizer. That was okay at this point, though the pickles were heavily breaded. Then we had to wait 45 minutes for our dinner (folks after us were served first, they might have lost our ticket). Quite frustrating, but we could kind of live with that too. But then the entrees. The meatloaf and mashed potatoes tasted like they were cooked days earlier and reheated and the green beans were clearly frozen. VERY bad quality and disappointing, particularly for $29. The hamburger we ordered was supposed to be medium rare but came out medium well. It was also supposed to not have a bun (gluten free) but did. The server was a nice lady, but she took away our water too early and forgot the beer I ordered (it came after about 15 minutes). I don't say this lightly, but this was a legendarily bad dining experience, one we will share stories about for years to come. 1/2 star for having a good story and a laugh about how bad this meal was. I'd think twice about eating at this place. It made us skeptical about ever eating in Granby in...
