Read moreOur first time in to Aztecas. Easy access right off Hwy 50 just outside of Grand Junction proper. Very clean inside dining areas and restrooms. Booth and table settings and large tables for groups as well. Relaxed atmosphere and some low volume Spanish music in the background. I mention that only because we e been to some places that the music has to be yelled over to have a conversation.
I ordered pork carnitas and she ordered Camarones ala Crema and we took a Carne Asada Burrito, to go for a friend. Portions were really plentiful. Ingredients tasted fresh and well prepared. My Carnitas were tender chunks of pork that were tasty and not just big pieces of fat. Her shrimp and mushrooms were really good, just maybe a bit too much Crème for her. The Carne Asada burrito was big and the meat had a nice char to it, which he expressed he likes. I’ll have to try that next visit.

By the time we left I’d say she had seven tables going and things were clicking right along. My review is 4.5 stars. I recommend...
Read moreI think my mom and I got the one set of waitresses that just didn't like white girls. We grew up next to the border and frequently crossed so we know authentic Mexican food and when someone's treating us like gringas. Anyways, not only was the food less than decent, but the three waitresses working stood in the doorway staring at us and talking while we ate. Restaurant was moderately busy and there were like 4 tables full besides us but they made eye contact with us the entire time. Plus I asked very specifically for green salsa - or tomatillo salsa. The waitress looked at me like I asked for a unicorn. She swore she understood what I was talking about and then brought out a literal steaming plate of something green colored. To this day we can't figure out what it was. Wasn't salsa, wasn't chile verde, wasn't enchilada sauce... Wasn't even spicy. Just green and bland. Like baby food.
All I can say is we've had better customer service from taco stands in Tijuana than this, at 10x the cost. Definitely will not be back. If the food had been decent, maybe, but the food was not good. Los J's has more authentic Mexican food and they're...
