Spent 3 nights at the Double Tree and had 4 meals at the Bistro. The first being breakfast. I ordered a simple eggs, hash browns and toast. The hash browns tasted like straw and also had an additive that one would not like. The second meal being an 8oz prime rib with lobster tail. I ordered the prime rib medium. When it arrived I cut into it and it was completely well done. The lobster on the other hand was cooked almost to perfection. Note: I did eat SOME of the baked potato prior to them taking my plate away. When they returned with the correctly cooked prime rib, they did not include my half eaten baked potato. My third meal was a hamburger and fries. All was well with this meal including the fries that I ordered were cooked to an almost perfection. My fourth meal was the Greek gyro sandwich with fries. The first bite I took, the meat was literally cold. They said it was due to the dressing that it was topped with and that was the last of the gyro meat in the kitchen so I asked them to just stick it in the microwave. I was still charged full price less fifty cents. Once again the fries were almost to perfection. For the prices you pay in the Bistro 743 I would expect some decent meals and for me they have failed to provide that decent meal without incident. Double Tree does still have the best complimentary warm...
Read moreWe decided to switch up our date night and try something new. We saw online some pictures and several good reviews so we decided to give Bistro 743 a try. The online menu didn’t match the menu that we were given. The menu in person had significantly less items and was more expensive.
The cocktails were $17 a piece so we decided to skip those. We ordered an appetizer and our entrees at the same time. We decided to try the artichoke dip. After about 15 minutes, our waitress came out and said sorry that the kitchen was backed up. A couple of couples came in after we have ordered. One of the couples received their artichoke dip and the others received their entrees before our appetizer or meal came out. I believe our waitress forgot to put in our food and didn’t want to tell us. After about 20 minutes, it came out. It was really good and had great flavor. Our dinner came out after about another 20 minutes. My husband ordered the chicken masala. It was really good. He needed to salt and pepper it but it had great flavor. I ordered steak and garlic mashed potatoes. None of my food has any seasoning and honestly was dry and not great. I ended up dipping my steak in the chicken masala leftover sauce. Most of the time our water was empty. Overpriced menu and not...
Read moreNeeds to be quality checked. The service was always friendly, helpful, and efficient but it did not match the food. I ordered the bison flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly but the caramelized onion/mushroom butter was almost non-existent sitting atop the steak. The butter was touted as the favorite but fell short for me. The flavor was flat with no zing. I'm not sure where the mushrooms were either but I'll count my blessings on that. The sweet potato fries were an extra cost as I knew going in but they were awfully greasy. Most of them were left on the plate. The BBQ sauce served with them was delicious. The mixed veggies, although cooked properly, were overly salted. The star of the meal was the vegan cheesecake with Belgian chocolate. This was worth it and I highly recommend. They looked like 2 brownie squares and were served with fresh, local fruit which was a boon. Bring a light jacket because the air conditioning was on full-force in that place. My friend, who arrived the day before, had eaten breakfast that morning and said the eggs were greasy and the entire meal was a disappointment. Such a shame with the hotel being modern...
