I've been here twice. Once with a reservation at a table with the grill and a chef. Again without a reservation just in the general dining area. The experience was night and day between the two. When we showed up without a reservation it took forever to get a seat and we almost never got checked on. It took a very long time to get food and it wasn't even that good when we did get it. It felt like I should be thankful for the privilege to be there. It was like they had no interest in helping the non-reservation customers. That's okay, just make yourself a reservation only restaurant if that's all you can handle.
I showed up again with a reservation and was quickly seated at a table with a prompt and kind waitress who was ready to help. It took about 30 minutes for our chef to arrive at the table and he quickly started making our meal while also demonstrating some impressive skills with his cooking utensils. The food was delicious and fresh. The chef was funny and charismatic. The one unfortunate part was when he tried throwing a piece of shrimp in everyone's mouth and my uncoordinated self couldn't achieve that again and again and again... It was all in good fun but it was embarrassing in the moment.
Overall after two experiences here, I still think it's overrated. It's pretty good food, but it won't change your life. The building feels pretty run down and not super clean. The staff is awesome if you have a reservation. The prices are a tad too high for what you get in my opinion. For being located in western Colorado where Asian food isn't super popular, it's a decent restaurant to try for yourself. Just get a reservation...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE!!! If there were ZERO stars, this place would get it. My biracial family walked in for dinner & were all treated with blatant disregard & disrespect. I have never experienced the amount of disdain toward all of us at once by THE ENTIRE STAFF as we did here. In addition to this space being RUN DOWN & NOT WELL MAINTAINED, this was our experience. The hostess barely spoke to us & told us she couldn’t seat us for “awhile” despite the place having multiple seats open. We were not directed to sit & wait anywhere for our table so my husband went to get a drink at the bar & the bartender was downright cruel to him. She initially barely acknowledged him then tried to correct him on the way he pronounced his beer. She verbalized that we “shouldn’t be in here.” A nearby customer commented on this as it happened. The negative impact began to grow on the other side of the restaurant as my children & I opted to seat ourselves at the sushi bar. The sushi chef immediately came out and stared at us without saying a word. My small children asked me why the chef was looking at us like this & my heart broke. Although my husband & I were at opposite ends of the TINY restaurant, I could see the experience in his face. I expressed all of this to the hostess on our way out and was not given any type of an apology or any consideration in the least. It saddens me that there are ignorant individuals who still judge others by how they look. However, when an entire restaurant is treating others like this, PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW! Tepanyaki should be ASHAMED of themselves with these RACIST antics toward families &...
Read moreWe got to the restaurant and right off the bat they informed us that there would be a 30 minute wait due to lack of supply for sushi ingredients. At that point in time we were then seated five minutes later, we sat at the table for over 25 minutes before anybody took our order or even gave us an appetizer menu or water for that. After waiting another 15 to 20 minutes the server came up to us and finally asked for our order, the server informed us that the sushi bar was Still low on supply, but that we could order sushi still. So we ordered our rolls and he went up to make sure that we could have those rolls and then came back and said yes we can make them. Then, the guy at the sushi bar came back to us 15 minutes later and said to us that they were out of rice. They were out of rice at a sushi restaurant? Also we got some of their sake it was absolutely horrible. We then got transferred over to the hibachi bar, we ordered some appetizers which was calamari and edamame. The calamari that they brought out to us was basically just breading and tasted like burnt bacon, never had worse calamari in my life. The hibachi chef was a really nice guy and he made our food pretty quickly, unfortunately the food was not worth the money that we spent, it was more blan, and tasteless. All in all, our experience was not worth all the time we spent waiting for answers, along with the quality. Wouldn’t recommend...
