I was at Scallywag New Years Eve. I am not satisfied at all with the bartender. She is a bit short, hefty on the side a little, medium burnette, and I believe her sister works there too. She's not that too old looking as well. That's how I can describe her. Don't know her name, but she's the main bartender I know by far. Anyway , I went to the bar and she out of nowhere said, "Remember me, I'm the one that kicked you out and if you do anything I'll kick you out, are we going to have any problems?" As I stood there with utterly shocked and confused, I said yes,but that was 2 years ago, and I've been here before after the incident too. Which was also not right when my sister was the one drunk and told her how she drove on the one-way street and she didn't kick her out. Instead, she kicked me out for no reason. I was upset about it, and I admit I said some bad words, but that's all I did. So, when i just got there on New Years Eve, and her immediately, attacking me. I told her that there isnt going to be any problems, but she didn't give me a chance to prove it to her. Instead, she said, "Never mind, I changed my mind you just got to go!" Also, threatened me if i did not leave she said she would call the cops on me. Before, i could say anything a security guy was behind me and grabbed me and told me i had to leave. I was trying to explain that I could not leave, I needed to get my belongings, and I needed to let my family know. Even my older sister was confused. I am telling the security that I've also had been here before after the incident. I never in my life even a bartender myself before would attack the way she did to me. This definitely felt like a personal attack on her end. Which is not professionally, and Im tired of being attacked in my life. When I had nothing that I did. I seriously feel like I no longer could go there afterward. However, that's not right that I should feel this way. This is why I want to post this because this is the only way for me to hear and how she is in the wrong. I'm 45 years old and single mom, and that hardly goes to Scallywag. I actually ended up at brass rail instead, and I...
Read moreI do not come here often... for a reason. In fact the last time I was here was exactly a year ago. It was my son's 21st birthday and he wanted to play pool so we decided to give it a try. It was ok at best. The ONLY REASON we got ok service was because I saw a friend of mine who knows Chrissy very well and she ordered our drinks for us. If you are not a regular customer, you will not get good service here period, it's ridiculous! They made that perfectly clear to me tonight. It's my son's birthday again obviously, and he wanted to come here again, we like to keep our money local. I stood at the bar for at LEAST 15 minutes. 2 bartenders, Chrissy and Stacy were working. They didn't acknowledge my existence even once. I am in the service industry as well. I normally tip excellently, if it's deserved. My son came up wondering why I didn't have drinks yet. He asked Chrissy for a pitcher of Blue Moon and she said "give me a minute." I'm thinking on top of the 15 I've already been waiting?! He goes to the bathroom after a few minutes. Mind you in this 20 minute time frame she has served every other customer on either side of me, literally as soon as they walk up! I'm thinking what the?! She FINALLY looks at me, no words were spoken whatsoever. Even though she was super friendly, all smiles and cracking jokes with the other customers. I asked for the pitcher of Blue Moon again. Again no conversation. She brings back just the pitcher, and I ask for glasses. She hands them to me, and I ask for oranges (typically Blue Moon is served with an Orange, so when you get a pitcher you should get several) she claimed they were out. I asked if they would do a birthday shot for my son, she said not really. I decided not to tip her. Bad mouth me all you want to. Like I said, if you work for it/ earn it, I will tip you extremely well. However, if you give me the worst service ever, of course I'm not going to tip you. I saw several people with orange slices on their Blue Moon pints afterwards. Needless to say I very highly doubt I'll ever be back. Maybe if you gave the same service to every single customer you would have...
Read moreIn all of my travels from Hawaii to New York in search of the best dining and libation experiences, Scallywags, is definitely a high point in the way of places to go in Grand Junction or for that matter, the entire western slope of Colorado. It is a rare treat to find such an extraordinary diamond in the rough. Slightly off the beaten path, the atmosphere is friendly and the service is outstanding! The Bartender/Server, Wendy is Very attentive and responds to your every need with only the slightest glance. The food is exemplary and the portions are hearty. They lose one star for a menu item that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the name it was given. LOL! Their "Hawaiian Luau Sandwich" Consists of : pineapple on... "Roast Beef and Swiss cheese" which are two items that you will absolutely NOT find at Any Luau ANYWHERE in Hawaii! And their MaiTai is a Midwestern version of the traditional Hawaiian drink which is Supposed to have the dark rum Floated on the Top.. On their behalf I have to say...this IS pretty much, The Midwest, so the drink gets more than a pass👌 and the Bartender is an Absolute Ace. If you want a True "Hawaiian Luau Sandwich" at Scallywags, order their "Pork You" Pulled pork Sandwich with Jalapeños, and tell them to hold the Swiss Cheese, extra light on the Bar b que sauce, add the pineapple and a few grilled shrimp, you will get the REAL Hawaiian Luau experience! Hawaiians Love spicy food so the Jalepenos are a definite plus! Nonetheless aside from the misguided name, That roast Beef Sandwich with Pineapple 🍍 is a real taste treat and the fare here is beyond reproach! The Pizza is the best I have ever had anywhere in the country outside of Chicago and the staff and owner are friendly, courteous and on the ball. Whether you are just ducking in out of the rain as I did, or having a romantic dinner for two, a party or even a business gathering, Scallywags is top of the mark in Grand Junction! This is my fourth visit and I absolutely WILL be going back for more! P.S. They should call that Roast Beef Sandwich: "The Scallywag" It's their...
