The Cutting Board — Restaurant in Grand Junction

We needed a quick stop for lunch driving through town and this place had super high reviews. In the end, what we got was okay-not really that good but was fine for the purpose of eating on the road.

The menu has a fair amount of interesting options but knowing what I know now they probably sound more interesting than they taste. We grabbed the tuna melt & the turkey/hummus/avocado wrap. The former was, again, okay. I'm not entirely sure there was cheese on it and if there were it certainly wasn't giving "melt". The tuna itself I was happy to find there wasn't too much mayo, maybe the best part of the sandwich. And the filling was plentiful with a nicely toasted bread. The wrap felt like something I could've gotten in a rest stop for half the price and would not order again. We also grabbed potato salad which I would not advise doing again.

The prices for the sandwiches are fine, but the prices for the drinks are astronomical. We ordered maybe ten minutes in advance and it was ready by the time we got there, which was nice because it seemed that the lunch rush had started and the one person behind the counter seemed a bit stressed by the influx...

I stopped for lunch while waiting for friends at the airport. I ordered the New York. It was excellent! Marble rye was hot but not cut-your-mouth crispy. Meat was flavorful and the right kind of dry. The perfect amount of slaw, kraut, and mustard so you got some in every bite, but it didn't slop out of the sandwich everywhere. I haven't had a sandwich worth leaving a review over for a long time. Great menu selection, maybe a little high on price, but that's everywhere today now. $11.50 for the sandwich. Will definitely go back for another. The service was a bit slow, only caveat. I ordered right away, no line. Several people came in after me and ordered. I waited about 15 mins. It would have stressed me out if my friends plane...

It was just ok, I asked for horseradish on the side and they still put it on the sandwich. Over 30 dollars for two sandwich meals I expected it to be better quality. The soda machine is behind the register so I doubt there are free refills. The bread and aujus was pretty good but the meat had that frozen/old taste. My wife ordered the garden sub and she said the Italian dressing was overpowering and she had to ask them to add cheese. We would much rather support a small business but the quality and price wasn't better than subway. We will give them another try and order something else. We were excited to try it, and we were a little disappointed. Not surprised there...
