Lariat Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Grand Lake

The food was alright, however as we were leaving the waiter/owner/manager tried to trick us into giving him an additional tip although we already tipped them at checkout. One, you never ask for a tip as it is a voluntary action. Second, you don't accuse someone of not tipping when you actually did. Another woman who was probably tipsy (not sure if they were related to the manager/owner/waiter) tried to trick us into giving him an additional tip by lecturing us on how it is "customary" to tip and what not. I have the receipt to prove that we had already tipped them even before the food came out. They simply wouldn't let us go without emotionally blackmailing us ("did I do anything wrong" etc) Not coming back here and I now wish I had never tipped them in the first place if I had known he tried to con customers the way he tried to con us.

Addendum after the response from the owner: The situation wasn't from "yesterday" as it had already been a few days since we had visited, at the time of the initial version of this review. Please do not base your response on incomplete/incorrect information for the sake of blindly defending...

I’m from the Denver metro area, myself and a group of couples make a trip to Granby every summer. We decided to venture out and try a few local bars, we started our night at the Lariat. We were met by a hostile environment, and were actually refused serve. A large percentage of our group were people of color, the bartenders told us they were “very busy” although there were open bar stools. We were a group of ten people, all ready to spend money and enjoy out night. We all decided to leave, one of the workers followed us out asking why we decided to leave. He then called us profanities, and asked us to “meet him out back”. Very embarrassing and toxic environment, if you’re willing to spend money I would recommend to go...

My friends and I went to get a couple drinks and watch a basketball game when we walked in the game was not on and we asked politely if we could get it on one of the 8 TVs playing the same hockey game. The server got mad and said we have to buy drinks which we were planning on doing anyways but insinuated that we were just going to crowd the bar. There we 4 tables all taken with 1-2 people sitting at them. Around when we were starting to wrap and leave the bartender changes the basketball game off and says we aren’t making him enough money for him to keep it on. We were being polite and just playing pool chatting and he made our night horrible. I highly recommend not coming here or giving them...
