Recently went to One Love Rum Kitchen with my family of 7. Ages ranging from 8-40’s. Very long waits for food, restaurant was not busy. Not a deal breaker but with kids it made them irritable. Price around $30 per meal with a small portion. More if you add a drink. Food flavor not over spicy but Hit or Miss on Flavor which was interesting.
Food we ordered: Presentation was beautiful
Ahi Ahi sandwich- My son did like this & Portion on this was normal. Sandwich/fries
The Ahi Ahi Poke bowl - was flavorful and good. Beautiful presentation.
The Tuna Poke Bowl which was better than the Ahi Ahi in flavor.
Mango Salsa which came with homemade chips and was fresh and good.
Pork Belly tacos which are basically pork fat so a rich flavor. Those were good served with a flavorful rice.
Ramen- We Went with reviews and ordered the Ramen absolutely disappointed in this one. Zero flavor which was interesting being it looked great in presentation.
Kids got a grilled cheese but my daughter didn’t like it. The bread was too dense for this kind of sandwich. She had a hard time eating it. Good amount of fries
Fish and chips They were ok. Definitely had better on these. Small and a bit over cooked. They don’t have malt vinegar, if you like that. Good amount of fries
I appreciated they tried to accommodate the kids with off menu items. Food was good but not great. Price was very expensive for not much portion. Ramen being the only decent size. Again we were trying find ways to add any kind of flavor to this one. Service was OK. Our waitress was nice but would leave and wouldn’t see her. Again this place had two tables (that’s with us) and two at the bar. After waiting so long for food, we ran out of water long before we finished eating. Kids were drinking anything on the table at this point. My husband had to go look for the waitress for the check, at this point we just wanted to go. The waitress was found really in conversation at the bar, mind you they did have a bar tender. So service when we had it was nice but they completely disregarded us after food was put down. Longest dinner ever.
It had lots of good reviews so we tried it. I personally was a bit...
Read moreWhen you are in town for a few days, although you want to try new places, you sometimes still tend to find a "home base." This place was ours. After driving for five hours around a snowstorm, we needed food and drink. This place was perfect. Baxter (also apparently has an alternative identity as Felix) and Jewel were our bartenders, and they made our arrival fantastic start to finish. I had the Island Burger (including the pineapple that comes on it and is recommended) and it was delicious. Burger was solid, but the toppings and sauce made the taste awesome. The wife had the ramen with chicken and loved it. My favorite words together are "house made hot sauce," and Baxter had two of them for me. One was something green and magical, and the other was a maple Sriracha. Their aioli for my fries was also stellar. Service was efficient, personable, and energetic. The IPA they have in house is Hazer Tag. Given we judge our painkillers from The Soggy Dollar in the islands, I would rate theirs as top notch. They also have stickers in the islands that if you do an IG post with it, you get some free stuff next time in. Also, Baxter just bought 500 pens that say "Stolen from One Rum Kitchen" that he was very excited about as a marketing plan and needs help in distributing/marketing globally for everyone's next trip to Grand Lake. So, ask for a pen and make sure you give it to someone in an airport or something to help their cause. Background music made you believe there was a beach outside. If you don't like the prices, make sure to check out their happy hour (3-5 EVERY day), where much stuff is half price. Great value. Kelly and Kayle were also great behind the bar on our return trips. If in the mood for a shot, they have an awesome rum from Barbados behind the bar. We hit up the happy hour our other two days without even hesitating. I definitely recommend this place, and see you there...the next time we are up that way, or when I find those stickers in St. John in August and have to return...
Read moreI’ve been to the new One Love several times since it relocated from Fraser and typically everything is great, but today was a different story. We went in and sat at the bar with there being MAYBE eight other patrons in the whole place. We ordered a few cocktails and the ceviche (which was excellent) and watched the NFL game that was playing. After the game ended I asked the bartender to put the Broncos game on. Begrudgingly, and after several excuses why he couldn’t get that game, I coached him through getting it on the tube. He was obviously perturbed and proceeded to complain to his coworkers about how the Packers game was on. I heard him whine about it in various ways as he walked past us several times while never offering us additional service. We had planned on getting a few more drinks and some entrees but apparently One Love is now a Packers bar and they don’t take kindly to watching the local football team. We closed out and went down the road to Sagebrush which was full of locals watching the Broncos game. The owners should discuss how to offer good customer service with the guy trying to look like Captain Jack Sparrow and remind him that he’s in a service-based job in Colorado. Maybe he would rather have Sundays off so he can watch the Packers at his leisure versus having to watch them at work AND deal with...
