Unbelievable!

I had a T-Mobile offer for a free small sandwich and small drink.

I was not happy about the fact that Schlotzsky's decided I had to use the coupon in less than 24 hours. But I decided, what the heck I love Schlotzsky's. So I'll do it.

After I took a friend to the ER, I drove to the Schlotzsky's relatively close to my house. But not that close.

I got there almost 1 full hour before they closed.

And I was told by the young man behind the counter that they would not honor the deal!!

DANIEL, an unbelievable spoiled brat, was combative from the beginning.

He told me that they were out, and there's nothing he could do about it. I said, "Well of course there is, you can make it right, you can find a way to honor the deal."

He said no. Then he showed me about 8 or 9 receipts and said, "Look how many we sold! We sold out!"

I made the point that's more their problem than mine. I said, "You're able to make sandwiches and drinks. So make me a sandwich and a drink."

He refused!

I explained to him, that's really not an option. T-Mobile and Schlotzsky's made a deal, and as a customer if both, you need to do your best to honor that deal.

He got louder. He got more obnoxious. And he made it abundantly clear that he wasn't going to do anything. In fact, he said, "You can come back tomorrow before 5:00."

"No, I can't," I explained.

"First of all, that's not convenient for me. Here's what's convenient for me, I'm here now. So serve me now. Second of all, this offer ends when you close tonight. So I can't come back tomorrow."

He kept saying they're out, and making it CRYSTAL clear there was nothing he would do. I said, "Just make a substitute." He said, "No I'm not going to."

Excuse me?

I asked him to simply make a regular size sandwich instead. He said, "You'll have to pay full price for it. And if you want to drink, you'll have to pay full price for that too."

Understandably, I'm getting pretty hot at this point. I simply could not believe what was happening. He wouldn't even give me a discount if I wanted to get a different sandwich. Or a small pizza. Nothing.

I was beyond exasperated. And in extreme frustration I was walking out.

Then... he turned around and mumbled something.

I turned around too, "What did you say?" He said, "Boomers!"

Boomers??? Sure, I am Proud to be a Baby Boomer.

I said, "And guess what they did in the 60s and 70s? They made it right. They apologized for the inconvenience, and they said, 'how can we make this right?'"

Whatever happened to "the customer is always right?" Especially when I'm simply asking him to honor a deal set up between the Schlotzsky's Corporation and T-Mobile. Nothing more.

The last thing I went in for was an argument from a young punk who doesn't appreciate hard work, as "Boomers" like me are accustomed to.

UPDATE

James,

I appreciate your speedy reply. And I certainly will accept your offer for a free meal.

Be aware, the staff most definitely did not make that offer to me. As I stated above, Daniel's response was far, far different. Another young man stayed quiet, and someone from the back came up, listened for a minute, and went back to the back of the restaurant.

If anyone had offerd me a free meal, I would have quickly, and very happily accepted!

If they had even offered a discount, or ANY concession I would have been happy!

And I would have posted the positive outcome in either scenario.

However, that's not what happened.

But - because of your desire to make this right, I wanted to take the unusual step of making this update to my review, to show my sincere appreciation.

And to let others know that you stepped in to make sure I was taken care of. Which, in my opinion, settles this completely. And goes a long way toward demonstrating to everyone that you are interested in making sure your customers are happy.

It's important to be fair. So I will always publicly praise as quickly as I admonish.

Thank you,...

This specific location charges MORE than the other locations. Literally $2-3 more for a combo! I mentioned to the man at the register ( I think he may have been owner or manager, looked Asian) that his prices were much higher. He did not like when I said that and rolled his eyes at me and said ā€œhowā€ with an attitude. My next question to him was ā€œis that the only soup you have?ā€ Only because I overlooked the menu with the complete list of soups. He very rudely pointed at the menu and said ā€œ all our soups are right there!ā€ This man was VERY RUDE, and on top of that trying to trick people by charging $2 and $3 extra for a value meal. This is ridiculous and it was at lunchtime. That means I would have paid $16 easily with tax! After his horrible attitude, and ungratefulness for having a CITIZEN choose his location..I told him I will go elsewhere. He did not even care he said oh ok! I’m not spending my ā€œhard working dollarsā€ at a chain restaurant, the owner does not even look American and is ripping Americans off! No thanks. Nice try though. Some of us know how much the other locations charge. I went to Subway and paid $10.60 for...

Worst two Schlotzsky’s sandwiches we’ve ever had and I mean the ā€œWorstā€. I ordered the beef and cheese, there was literally one slice of beef on the sandwich, it was all vegetables. I guess they’re trying to help people go vegan, Lol…My wife ordered the beef and cheesy, the bread for the sandwich; like mine was not at all baked. It was like they took it out of a bag from a store and made both sandwiches. She did have a few more slices of beef and I mean just a few. I called the store to ask to speak with the store manager and the man who answered the phone was very hesitant to let me speak to him. He put someone on the phone who was supposedly the manager. After explaining my experience to the manager he stated ā€œWell I just don’t understandā€ What’s not to understand? What he should have done is offered to replace our meal. This was my first and last time to visit this location. If you live in Grand Prairie I advise you to do the same and drive to the Schlotzsky’s off i20 and Great Southwest, they know how to make a sandwich. I Do Not recommend this location and if I could give them a (-) 1...

Stopped in at 9:08pm.When paying their creditcard machine was messed up and had to restart it. Then we stated it was for here. The manager wanted to tell us its almost time to close.Which we replied we have time to eat inside. When the food was brought to us it was in a bag to go.Also the manager was hitting his fist into his hand telling the poor young employee why he let us order.Felt bad for the employee to be treated that way.We forgot to ask for pepper on sandwich. We asked to buy some and was explained they don't have any. They throw them away for health reason every night.Never have I heard this crap before. Then manager comes out to ask us he threw the soup away already did we want something else. When we was eating the sandwich noticed the meat looked bad.Asked why would you put that nasty meat in a sandwich and he had no answer. But did notice the guy was making our sandwich with no gloves on! Also he a thermometer on counter which made us wonder if someone was sick.Would never go back to this place again.Dont advise anyone else either.Think its a hospital trip in the making.

How can anyone say they don’t put any meat on their sandwiches? They are loaded with meat. The service here has always been friendly and fast. No atmosphere or music? It is a sandwich shop. It is tastefully decorated and yes, there is music. The best sandwiches, great service. I have been coming to this location for several years. Always satisfied.
