I ordered two pizzas and wasn't aware exactly what Detroit style meant, but I saw a great review in the local website for Grand Rapids about best pizza places for takeout. I decided to place an order for my family last week and see how good it really was. There was a simple mistake on one of the pizzas which is for my children and they are fairly picky eaters and I knew that they would not be very happy with the results. Even if I just told him to take the toppings they didn't like off like what my parents used to do. However, given it was the first time we went there, I thought I would at least take a chance and let them know of the issue. So I turned around, went back and met the owner, Joel, and they had no problem making a brand new pizza for us and went out of their way to make it very quickly. Quickly, so I had a wonderful experience. I'd say the pizza was a good 8 out of 10 for flavor and quality. Just considering this style is not my favorite style of pizza after finding out what it is but overall well worth a visit. If you like thick crust Detroit style pizza I would say make an effort to visit and say hi...
Read moreI was born and raised in Detroit. After 53 years I moved to the Grand rapids area last year. I have always felt that the Original Buddy's on 6 Mile and Conant was the best damn pizza anywhere. That might have been true until Quarantinos opened their doors! We stopped for the first time last weekend and it was absolutely amazing! Just tried the MC5 and it was a grand slam! You can just taste the quality of the ingredients. The crust nearly brought tears to my eyes it was so light and crispy đ The Almond Tiramisu taste exactly like a Good Humor Toasted Almond Bar! They don't have a lot of tables and probably do more carry out than anything, but it had a cool little dining room and a nice atmosphere. The wait staff was incredibly friendly, and the beer I had was ice cold. I found my favorite spot in Grand Rapids, hell anywhere, for Detroit Style Pizza! The meatballs were also really good. Can't...
Read moreI ordered Quarantino's for the first time via delivery on St. Patrick's day. Maybe it was a busy day, but after reading through all the delicious reviews my friend and I were deeply disappointed in the pizza we received. The Detroit style pizza, known for its crispiness, was incredibly soggy on the bottom and overall was not as good as the reviews had indicated. The bread sticks were okay, and we were both not really into their homemade ranch (which may just be a preference thing!). The delivery came quickly despite a busy day, but overall we wished we would have stuck with our original choices for Domino's (which pains me to say so, because I always prefer to eat local when I can!). This may have been an off day for them, but I'm sad that I spent $50 instead of $20 for something that ended up not being...
