Pros: do you love Jewish Delis?! If so, this is going to rock your world None: well, parking can be a smidge tricky.
No more traveling to Ann Arbor to scratch my Ruben itch. These babies are toasted, packed with the good stuff, and staff are great. I also love the ambiance of the location. Itās old school, comfy, and fabulous! Truly, it is charming as heck. My hubs tried the Italian hoagie and I got Evanās double dip (corned beef AND pastrami with kraut and 1000Isle on toasted rye). My hubs hoagie was great -the French roll was perfection; really nice chew. My sandwich was glorious! Perfectly toasted and nicely portioned. I also got a slice of banana cakeā¦. It was MAGIC! You cannot find banana cake around here and I hadnāt had a slice in probably 25 years. It was as good as my grandmaās. A moist sheet pan slice with the most amazing cream cheese frosting. I highly recommend! The Big John is next on our list (my hubs is obsessed with Big Johnās in Lansing). They were sold out when we visited, but weāll be back!
Side note on parking: there are a few spaces along the sidewalk in front. There is also a small parking lot in the back that is shared with other businesses. It wasnāt terribly clear where we could park back there so we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best.
Additional side note: thereās a bakery 2 doors down where their bread is made! Check it out for breads and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy recent encounter at Schnitz Deli was nothing short of appalling. From the moment we entered, it became abundantly clear that professionalism and basic decency were foreign concepts to a certain individual
One employee, in particular, exhibited behavior that I can only describe as disgraceful. Not only did they unceremoniously usher us out the door prematurely, but they also had the audacity to shut down the grill before we could even place our order. Their blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and their dismissive attitude were utterly reprehensible.
As someone deeply invested in maintaining professional standards in real estate, I cannot fathom subjecting my clients to such disrespect. Schnitz Deli has firmly cemented its place on my blacklist of establishments to avoid. Any business that fails to uphold even the most fundamental and basic principles of customer service does not deserve patronage.
In summary, Schnitz Deli's abysmal conduct and lack of professionalism make it unworthy of consideration. Save yourself the trouble and seek out dining options that value and respect their customers. I suggest you go to Eastern Deli. One pro the food was good minus that it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWOW. What a let down. Passed by this morning and figured I should stop since itās a local business Iāve never been to. I used the back entrance and was immediately confused and almost turned around because the back entrance is so filthy and unwelcoming that I thought I had accidentally used an entrance meant only for employees or deliveries. Once you step further in itās not much better. Beige or yellow walls, dim atmosphere, everything looks old, slightly dingy and greasy. This was shocking to me because you can tell from some of their signs and the front of the building that theyāve been here for a while and are probably beloved by the community so itās confusing to me why the owner would let their property exist in this unfortunate state, inside and out. Shnitz baking company nextdoor is no exception, I was going to try there to but the outside is so neglected and unappealing I figured Iād better not. I was still determined to try the place until I glanced at the ingredients. Gordon Food Service everything, bottom of the barrel, Hormel meats, all bread is bleached and enriched. The food here is mid and the place is ugly and neglected, WHY WOULD I...
