I've been here 3 different times and was not impressed the first two, but the 3rd time is what gave me the "never again"
The dessert I got from the front had mold on it like a lot of fuzzy mold. When I told her she told me to switch it out and when I did the other one had mold too, so she told me to choose another one, I did, and she told me it was $3 more for the other one I chose... Umm I didn't want this one I wanted the other one but it had MOLD on it. But it only being my third time eating here and I had brought a friend and didn't want to be embarrassed, I gave the $3 and the cake was GARBAGE, dry and stale. Okay so it's not THEIR food it's the suppliers, small places make mistakes like this with supplies so I brushed it off and we ordered dinner.
Their chicken skewers were good, juicy with a nice sauce.
The meat Beef Rendang was refrigerator cold, like scooped out a container from the fridge and forgotten to heat up. I even had to Google it to see if it was supposed to be served cold. I asked if they could heat it up because it was really cold and she gave me an attitude like I was the problem, I didn't want to be a Karen, but was close to telling her to touch it herself. I couldn't make this stuff up. I had ordered the Nasi 22 Rendang. When she returned the plate the beef was finally hot but the rest of the food was now cold. No sorry in sight to go with it. Meat was okay, really fatty, but honestly between the mold and the cold, I couldn't eat much as my appetite had left the table.
My friend ordered a noodle dish with chicken that was pretty good, but I don't recall what the name of it was.
I decided to give this place three chances to give me an idea what Indonesian food is like and now understand why at one point they had a C rating from a health inspector, and that even though they got it back up to an A, they should be working on keeping it there and not slack.
There were two dishes that were good, but overall service and other food were poor.
I will not recommend this place and will not be...
Read moreAs someone who grew up eating homemade Indonesian food, I can say this restaurant is authentic and amazing! Its tasty, flavorful and well priced with good customer service. Indo Bistro is located at the beginning of a series of Asian cuisine, which includes Mongolian BBQ, ramen, and Thai. It is a great opportunity to try a variety of food while stopping in 1 place. However, Indonesian is much harder to find so I would definitely stop in to try it. Orders can be made with zero spice, which they actually honor, and you will receive nonspicy foods. Simultaneously you can get sambal and adjust the spice to a stronger degree. Every order can be made to either vegetarian or vegan with tofu or requesting no eggs. If you order anything, I suggest you try fried rice. The biggest bonus is their shelves of imported Indo groceries to cook or prep Indonesian at home. (For those who know little about Indonesian food, Thai food is an adaptation of Indonesian food. Since spices were bought in the Dutch East Indies, aka Indonesia, recipes were adopted too. The further from Indonesia, the more adapted the recipe becomes. But Indonesian people have worked with spices longer than most other cultures...
Read moreA great place for those who are craving authentic Indonesian food or those who want to try Indonesian food. Indonesian food known from TV networks usually involves Nasi Goreng and Rendang but there are plethora of other interesting food originally or uniquely from Indonesia. One example is the Mie Ayam Jamur, which is an Indonesian deconstruction of the Chinese Noodle Soup where the soup and the ingredients are separated. You can also try Sayur Asem which is Indonesian Tamarind Soup with young jackfruit pieces, sliced corn, chopped chayote and peanuts. It's different from Thai Style Tom Yum. I also like their Sate Padang which is an excellent dish featuring barbequed beef tongue in skewers. It comes with a delicious sauce. I also like their combination Rice such as Nasi Bungkus, Nasi Rames, Nasi Kuning and others. If you want to stick with the standard, you can always try the Nasi Goreng or stir...
