I have eaten at Woody's many times but this is my first review of it. If you follow me, you will remember that I am partial to Prime Rib. Just like the Chicken Fried Steak is the touchstone of any Diner, so is the Prime Rib for any Fine Dining restaurant. The thing is, Woody's is more of a Roadhouse, but their Prime Rib can compete with those white tablecloth establishments. Woody's offers Prime Rib Dinners on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only -- and only after 4:00 PM. The portion served is huge (see my photo) and is accompanied by a big baked potato, au jus, and horseradish sauce. (If I had to fault the plate, it would be that they do not include a vegetable but, frankly, there is more than enough to satisfy almost any appetite.) The meat was tender and juicy and cooked spot on to my preferred doneness of medium rare. Woody's coats the roast with a peppery dry rub, which is a perfect complement to the meat. The price (as of this writing) is $24.99, and has not risen since before COVID. To their credit, unlike many places, Woody's does not tack on a surcharge. I added a small green salad (bleu cheese dressing, of course) and an Arnold Palmer to drink (free refills), bringing my tab to $32.47, not including a 25% tip. Three cheers to Woody's for offering a 10% discount to active and retired military, police, and fire personnel. (Please note: This discount can only be applied to regular menu items and, since it is a week-end special, the Prime Rib is not eligible.) By the way, Woody's has a very complete menu, so don't be put off if you're not a carnivore. I have never had a bad meal or a poor experience at Woody's so, with confidence, I can say that Woody's is Highly...
Read moreThe menu is a bit small and pretty standard but it was expected. Coffee Cake was good, buttery and sweet cinnamonny. Everything else was sub par and I felt the prices were a bit weird but understandable, it's cool to go into a dinner and it's got some style to it. So I guess I'm paying a touch for atmosphere as well. The service to seat us was slow and it was just us walking in, guess they were maybe understaffed not sure but our server Michael was very good, our food not so much. Eggs Benedict weren't the best and small side of hash browns, meanwhile my Wife's country fried chicken steak was pounded to paper and was still undercooked but with plenty of eggs and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were a touch overcooked on the outside and a touch undercooked on the inside imo. The biscuits and gravy need to be eaten quickly I presume because the 1st one was good but the 2nd one was dry and hard squishy maybe too doughy. The gravy was standard. The orange juice was good, my wife liked the coffee. Best part was Michael and the coffee cake. But not worth the price imo, maybe knock off a dollar or .50 cents. Portions per price don't make sense. Food came out quickly but a little too quickly and the food quality and my wallet paid the price. The food standards need to be raised to equal the prices. Also the establishment is cheesy in scenery which I admit I'm a sucker for tacky restaurants but the seat I sat in had big rips in it. So as much as I want to like this place there's too many cons for me to return. They just need to fix a few things and I think they can be...
Read morePulling into the parking you would probably think it's the average diner with the same boring menu as all the other places, bland in nature, over cooked food with stale service members who stop smiling as soon as they turn around and think you don't notice the eye rolls when you ask for extra ranch or their opinion on the menu. Happily Woodys blew all those stereo types completely out of the water. With only an hour to eat and a pretty big appetite I wasn't expecting much. The staff and cooks had a whole different plan in mind, Mary welcomed my coworkers and I with a huge genuine smile sat us down and brought us out menus with an excellent attitude. The place has a specific charm I can't quite put into words very clean and cool. The kind of place you take your best friends to celebrate something important. The theme is awesome. It's the sort of place where you want to be a regular and get to know the staff owners and cooks. Once the order was placed we sat and had a great time, Robert the manager came by and asked about our visit made conversation and offered us some fresh coffee cake at the end of our meal. At this point we started looking around the room for cameras to check if we were in some sort of show because the whole vibe was so on point. We felt special and well taken care of and I would recommend this place to anybody and everybody who wants a delicious meal, tons of choices to eat and a over all great time. Best dinning experience I've had in a long time. Thank you to the owners and staff again....
