Arrived at the Granite Falls Alfy’s At 5:30pm, 3 1/2 Hours before they were supposed to close at 9pm. We had not eaten there for several months and did not realize that the restaurant had changed owners.
My husband, son, and I each ordered an all-you-can-eat salad bar with a soda for each of us and a large pizza. The cost came to just over $54, which seemed a little high from what I remembered, but we went ahead and paid it. The waitress who helped us was very nice, and while I waited for her to get our plates and cups I noticed a sign on the counter stating that a 6% surcharge would be added to ALL bills because the state of Washington had raised its minimum wage. So, in fact, this Alfy’s was directly passing on the cost of the minimum wage increase to its customers with a 6% increase on all bills!
We took our plates over to the salad bar only to find that many of the toppings were dry, old, fermented. The spinach was about half wilted, the tomatoes slices were clear and smooshey, the pickled beets had fermented and were sticky with a slime, and the 5 breadsticks that were sitting out were hard, cold, and true warmer light wasn’t even on. My family, being hungry, decided to go ahead and try....but I felt like I had paid too much for the salad bar to have old and fermented toppings. I took my plate back to the counter wanting to get my money back. I stood there for a while waiting, as the young girl had disappeared. After a few minutes, a man counting money at the end of the bar looked up asked if he could help me. I explained that I would like my money back for the salad bar because many of he toppings were old or spoiled. He asked me to show him specifically what was wrong, which made me feel a little weird, but I walked over and showed him that the onions had sat out so long that they had wilted and become translucent, that the mushrooms were dark brown and old, that the beets had a slime on them and smelled foul. He responded that - that was what beets smelled like. I informed him that I am a vegetarian, eat a lot of beets, and that the slime meant they had gone bad. I also stated that the breadsticks were dry and cold and the heat lamp wasn’t even on them. He then started to raise him voice, making my husband get up out of the booth and watch what was going on. Some other customers walked I’ve rto the salad bar and that point, looked it over, frowned and walked away - obviously unhappy with its appearance. The owner continued to argue with me about how we could just ask if we wanted something new or fresh brought out. Finally I just stated that we were going to be leaving and would like full refunds for all our food.
The cashier girl gave us back our money and we left to go eat at Omega’s Pizza down the street. We were treated very rudely by the owner and will not be taking our money back to the Granite Falls...
Read moreAlfy’s— a pizza/mini arcade restaurant chain which we all know and….. well, I wouldn’t say love.
It’s just, well, standard. Every now and then I do crave Alfy’s, their pricing is more or less affordable and sometimes I crave stereotypical american restaurant food. The food’s actually not half bad, but not five-star.
Multiple reviews complain about poor service. Alfy’s can have wait times a bit longer than promised or so-called “rude” staff but I can assure after many visits stretched across multiple years that nothing is outrageous. You must understand that most of the staff are teenagers or young adults, likely overworked and juggling education, personal responsibilities, and a job. I wouldn’t blame them for delivering a shorter or rougher answer then you expected at 9:30pm on a weekday evening.
For children this place is great. They have a pool table, half-broken Xboxes, arcade machines, pinball, claw machines, candy dispensers, and host birthday parties.
Overall, a decent experience. Can make a few enjoyable nights with family or memorable parties who’s gaps in excitement are bridged...
Read moreSo I heard the Snohomish location shut down permanently and that's so sad! I would be devastated if any of the other locations closed too so I feel I have to let people know how delicious it is! This is some of the best pizza out there! Don't get me wrong, I looooove cheese; I've never met a cheese I don't like, but a lot of pizzas have that super thick, stringy cheese, and I just can't stand it. You know the kind that stretches like half a foot before it tears and the cheese to sauce ratio is off so you're just left with a mouthful of cheese?!? Yeah that's not for me. And if you're like me Alfys is the answer. Even if you're not like me, Alfys is the answer! Hahaha. I don't know where they get their cheese but I've never found pizza like it anywhere else, and it's heavenly! Their sauce/cheese/topping/crust ratio is perfect. Also their salad bar is bomb and all their sauces are top notch. My personal favorite is pizza with their Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, and bacon or sausage. Hope this convinces someone to...
