la Madeleine — Restaurant in Grapevine

We eat at the location in Grapevine, TX once a year with a group on our way home from event. The food is always good as it was today. The service is usually very good, however today it was not. All of the other families in our group had received their meals and were in fact almost done eating, but my family had not. I went to the counter to see when we might be getting our order and saw it sitting on the counter. I asked about it and was told by a person that I assumed to be the manager (wearing a red shirt), that they were waiting on one more item. I told her that I came to check because we had been waiting thirty minutes. I wasn't really even upset at this point, but her reply is what made me get that way. It was "Well everyone is waiting that long Sir." That was false because a number of families who had come in after us had already received their orders! I let it go at that point and decided to walk away. When we finally did get our food, it was cold and an order of French toast was burnt so black on the bottom that it was inedible. We sent it back. We just decided to eat because we were ready to get on the road and get home. I don't know if they were short handed in the kitchen or something else but frankly a simple explanation for the delay would have made...

Today I came in and I was greeted by Friendly Smile's! Will was very Welcoming & Kind!! Cristian Provided Excellent Customer Service, (Well Spoken and Knowledgeable) Definitely Happy to Help Me!!! I asked what he recommended for me to eat today and.... ( His Recommendation was Amazing!!!) He KNEW Exactly what Meal to Recommend!!! "Creamy Pesto Pasta" and Boy was it Delicious!!!. *Thank you Cristian!!! &Thank you Chef!*The place was Clean and Very Well Maintained, TEAM WORK here is INCREDIBLE!!!! This includes: Friendliness, Recommendations, and Skills! I could tell that Everyone was Enjoying there Jobs and Very Happy to Provide Customer Service!!! I was very Happy to be here amongst a Wonderful and Healthy Environment!!! Hope they get a **Promotion as they Truly Deserve it!!! I LOVE La Madeleine! Have since I was young. I love gawking over the pastries and desserts in display case, wishing they were all zero calories. I tend to get the tomato basil soup frequently and have even found a recipe that I can make at home to save a few bucks. I went to this particular location for breakfast with a coworker of mine before our shift and I ordered the Croque Madame with an egg over easy. The food took quite a long time to be served to us which was frustrating because we had beat the crowd. My food was lukewarm and my egg was over hard. Since I had paid $14 for my breakfast, I wanted it to be right. It took forever to get someone’s attention because they were sweeping or something. I finally did get someone’s attention and they told me they would bring a new egg out. There was no promptness or sympathy for my expensive meal being made wrong. I got the egg and at that point the sandwich was cold. I ate it anyway since I had a long day at work ahead of me but I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this location. The manager and staff need to be retrained to “move with a purpose” especially when you are trying to...
