If you find yourself anywhere near Grayson, Georgia, and you’re craving something sweet, cold, and delicious, do yourself a favor and stop by Beren’s Frozen Custard. This place is a local gem and a family favorite — a throwback to when dessert shops took pride in every scoop and every smile.
First and foremost, the frozen custard itself is fantastic. Rich, creamy, and made fresh daily, it stands apart from anything you’ll find in a grocery store freezer or from a typical ice cream chain. There’s a noticeable difference in texture and taste that true custard lovers will immediately appreciate. Whether you’re into vanilla, chocolate, or the ever-changing flavor of the day, everything tastes homemade — in the best possible way. Their sundaes are stacked high and generously topped, the concretes are thick and packed with mix-ins, and the banana splits are a nostalgic masterpiece. It’s the kind of place where you can’t make a bad choice because everything on the menu is solid.
And speaking of the menu — it’s reasonably priced, which is a breath of fresh air these days. You can treat yourself and your family without feeling like you’ve overpaid for a couple scoops of frozen dessert. They offer various sizes to fit any appetite and budget, and they don’t skimp on quality or portion size. It’s truly one of those rare spots where value and quality meet.
One of the most charming aspects of Beren’s is the friendly atmosphere. The staff is always welcoming, courteous, and efficient — even on busy evenings when there’s a steady line at the window. You’re greeted with a smile, and you feel like your order actually matters to them. That kind of service really elevates the whole experience.
On multiple occasions, I’ve even been served by Mr. Berens himself, which gives the place an old-school personal touch that you just don’t see much anymore. He takes pride in his business, and it shows — in the product, in the staff, and in how the place is run. There's something genuinely comforting about supporting a local, owner-operated business where the person whose name is on the sign is actually behind the counter.
The location is clean and well-kept, with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your treats during warm Georgia evenings. It’s a great place to take kids, go on a casual date, or just stop by solo when you’re in the mood for something sweet and satisfying.
To sum it up: Tasty treats, friendly staff, and fair prices — with a strong personal touch. That’s what you’ll find at Beren’s Frozen Custard in Grayson. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a loyal regular, you’ll be glad you stopped in. I know I’ll keep coming back for more, and I highly recommend you do too.
Five stars...
Read moreIt doesn't matter what location you're at, we'll drive the extra mile to spoil ourselves with your delicious frozen custard.
We've always enjoyed visiting and your staff is great. What makes it even better isn't the fact that the owner remembers my wife and I, but that he remembers our daughter and her first "ice-cream". Even our two golden retrievers get spoiled (and photos taken). Our English Cream Golden is the nicest and most gentle dog we've ever had but when she was finishing her first doggie cup and I was pulling it away to throw out, she growled! She's never done that with anything else, ever, and hasn't since, but that's how much she loved it. (she immediately realized what she did and sulked afterwards until we patted her on the head) Both of our dogs have cup races across the kitchen floor when we bring them back a little scoop (the cup moves every time they lick so they keep walking across the floor until the get to the wall).
Thanks for all your delicious flavors! (I always get the chocolate milkshake.....
Read moreI came to this restaurant and ordered two concrete brownie custard cups. One with whip cream and one without... Mine had whip cream. I ordered before closing. I ate mine and woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pains. The following morning I was rushed to the hospital and was admitted because I almost died. The hospital said I had food poisoning. They examined my throw up and determined it came from here seeing how I ate nothing else that day but breakfast. My friend called from the hospital to explain what happened. They pulled up her order by the phone number she used for a discount. They said they would call back and till this day I never heard from them.. The girl making my food had scraped some brownies from a pan that was sitting out in the open... She took my money and didnt wear gloves when handling my food.. I will never eat at this place again.. They are not practicing food safety.. And they didnt even check on me to see if I was alright. Dont eat here, go to McDonalds...
