We stopped here for dinner because we wanted Mexican food with outdoor seating, and the wait at Xicohtencatl was too long. We didn't have to wait long to order, and our food and drinks came out quickly. However, once we were served, our server never came back to check on us or ask if we wanted to order anything else. Eventually near closing time the bus boy asked if we wanted to wrap up our leftovers. We said yes and added that we'd really like to order dessert but hadn't seen our server in quite a while, and he informed us that the kitchen had just closed. We were disappointed and annoyed that our server never came back to follow up with us, to tell us that it was the last call for ordering, etc. It was not busy but it seemed like she just couldn't be bothered. We also had to ask the bus boy for our check, and only then did our waitress reappear. The food itself was OK but nothing to write home about (we had chicken fajitas, chicken chimichanga, and a house margarita which tasted watered down). We would not go back based on...
Read moreRelaxed, family-friendly Mexican restaurant with lots of options for everyone. Offering all the usual Mexican-American Tex-Mex fare they allow you to adjust to meet the preferences of the pickiest eaters as well. I got the veggie fajitas vegan-style (no cheese or sour cream). Unfortunately their rice is pre-made with butter (huge bummer and easily fixable if they wanted) but the beans and grilled vegetables were quite tasty without the rice and I had enough for leftovers for dinner. Also enjoyed at our table was the pozole soup and the trio of beef tacos, which my daughter had both soft- and hard-shelled. We dined-in which included one free serving of chips and salsa, and Iâm glad we did as the salsa was honestly one of the best parts of the meal! All-in-all a good experience, just wish they had a few more vegan options on the menu. But if thatâs not a concern for your party the. This is a great spot to scratch your...
Read moreTucked away behind the main street in the corner of a parking lot, this dimly lit Mexican restaurant has a small bar, several tables inside, and a couple of tables outside. It has all the menu items you would expect and a couple of items that you wouldn't expect when you walk in. When I finally got them, the chips were hot, and the salsa chunky with onions and tomatoes. The tortillas soup was thick, had plenty of chicken, and was tomato-based, not the thin broth soup you get at most places. It was also a huge portion, so I skipped ordering anything else. With only 2 servers, they were stretched a little thin, and those 2 had to also handle the brisk take-out business. The food does make it worth a return, but the atmosphere is not someplace...
