I havent been to the Mahaiwe since I was a kid, so I was looking forward to seeing a band from my teenage years there. The website was very clear about masking and vaccine protocol, but since we got the tickets months ago we were hoping the mask mandate would be lifted as it has been at other venues. One member in our party has breathing issues and it is difficult for them to wear a mask for prolonged, but there are no exceptions. They patrol the theater throughout the show to reprimand people. No water is allowed (another issue for those with medical problems). The acoustics weren't great, and it was very hot. Definitely one of my least favorite venues around. Read moreThe Mahaiwe in Great Barrington is the perfect spot to see a live performance. The old/restored theater is beautiful, and the small-ish size makes any seat in the house a good one. The staff were all incredibly friendly, helpful and readily available to help you find your seat. I didn't see any type of concession stand or area, so plan ahead and eat before going in. There's no on-site parking, but parking spots in Great Barrington are usually easy to find.
