TLDR: Excellent food, outstanding service and willing to accommodate our 1 year old.
My wife and I wanted to go up to the Berkshire's to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Not ready to leave our newly turned 1 year old behind we decided to bring her along on the trip. So we knew that finding a place to celebrate was going to be challenging.
After scoping out the local spots and getting a feel for the town we came across this place. I saw the menu and knew that my wife, myself and our daughter would love the food. So I went in and asked if they would be willing to host us for dinner the following evening, being that we have a 1 year old who likes to exercise her lungs from time-to-time, especially when she wants something and it isn't coming quick enough.
They agreed and put us down for 2 1/2. We arrived the next evening and right as we walked in they knew it was us as we rushed in from the rain carrying a child. They quickly ushered us to the last booth in the back of the bar area of the restaurant.
We briefly looked over the menu, knowing that at this stage in our life, the quicker the turn around the better for our daughter.
We ordered the bone marrow to share, my wife got the autumn risotto, and I got the strip with a side of mushrooms and chimichurri.
The bone marrow with mushrooms were delicious and our whole family quickly consumed that appetizer only wishing there was more.
The entrees were perfect. My steak, medium rare, was cooked to perfection, and the char marks from the grill along with the salt and pepper seasoning came through in almost every bite. My daughter who loves mushrooms couldn't get enough of them. My wife said she enjoyed her risotto as well. I thought it was truly fall on the plate.
Throughout the meal the entire staff waved to our daughter, who loves to communicate to people through waving and saying hi. They all came up and talked with her numerous times and made her feel special. This easily made the experience go more smoothly than if she was ignored.
In the end we were more than full as the portions were a generous size. I think it was the manager, after I had asked for the bill, came up and offered us dessert of the house because it was our anniversary, which was very nice. He didn't have to, but he did because he wanted to be generous.
We would definitely come back here again and would recommend anyone in the area to go...
Read moreIf I could give this a 0 I would... on my mothers birthday, we decided to try out the new “no 10” steakhouse where the castle st cafe was in Great Barrington. We entered and were seated at a very small table in the center of the dining room. My mother asked the miatrdee if we could sit at a different table because my mother, 55, and my grandmother, 83 and with dementia, were celebrating my mothers birthday.
The man told my mother “no it is reserved” Then while sitting I called him over and asked him if we could move, because there were multiple tables open at locations which would be more comfortable for our group. He leaned in, got literally three inches from my face and shouted “SOMEONE SPECIFICALLY HAS REQUESTED TABLE 31” I turned my head because he was getting more and more aggressive. My mother told him that it would be a good time to stop arguing. He kept going. He then left. My 83 year old grandmother was distraught and insisted leaving. On our way out he blocked my way. I told him to get out of the way. He then stopped my mother and begged us to stay. She said she wouldn’t because of how rude he was. He offered free deserts, and we refused.
Later my mom called and asked to speak to a manger. He said “hello _” and said my mothers name. He then argued and yelled at her for 10 minutes on the phone.
This business is brand new. This manager is clearly inexperienced. My family is extremely prevalent in this very small town, and word travels fast. This place will not last here, as soon as the summer tourists leave this place will not be able to survive. No locals will be going here, and i will make sure everyone knows how they treated me and my family at the No. 10 Steakehouse on 10 Castle St in great barrington MA.
This was so horrible hope my reviews on Tripasvisor, Yelp, and Google can sway people away from this...
Read moreWe chose Number Ten, a family favorite, to throw a 40 person surprise cocktail party for a milestone birthday this November - Vern, the owner, was amazing to work with from the day I first contacted him with the event request. He and his team hosted us with five star service through every stage of planning up through the end - he helped us tailor a menu of seafood, beef, and vegetarian stationary and pass around items to please every taste - including a layered birthday cake and array of desserts - and from the moment I arrived with the addition of flowers and birthday décor, the restaurant amazed - the staff were attentive and they were everywhere - there was not a single guest who stepped out of their watchful eye - from putting finishing touches on décor, passing food, and managing the ebb and flow of timing for every stage of the event - at one point, their discreet attention ensured every child was opening favors and not missing anything at a joyful children's table - guests remarked on how kind, cheerful, and attentive the staff were (the service was truly impeccable) how tasteful the food and drinks (the bartender was outstanding) - we also brought in a band and had a photographer - and at one point the entire party was in dance mode - we now have the sweetest photos and videos for our family to cherish for years to come. It's not every day in life that any of us get to gather with friends and family in that kind of cheer and love, and when planning for a family milestone, you can only hope for the end result - our family is truly grateful for Vern's eye and his graceful, down to earth, kind, and sharply detailed style. Signature Berkshires, I recommend Number Ten for any kind of...
