I've been going here literally since I was born. My family has always loved Kroll's (East specifically). I have never thought to leave a review for it until today. The food is usually pretty good, maybe a little expensive for what you get, but it's a taste you can't get anywhere else. It's very local. They have very good burgers, chicken strips, shakes, and perch. The fries have changed over the years but no matter what, they are always just fine. Not good, but fine. The interior/decor has not changed, probably ever. When you walk inside it probably looks kind of scary if it's your first time there. I think the fact that you pay when you get your food is kind of odd to people who aren't used to it. Anyway, back to today. There's a lady who has been working there since I can remember, and she's always been really rude. Like just straight up mean for literally no reason at all, not every time, but if you catch her in a bad mood, I guess? Well you know what, today she was rude enough that I thought, "The owners probably don't even read the Google reviews because this place is an institution in Green Bay anyway, but I'm going to leave one anyway because if it was my first time coming here and I was treated like that, I would never go back again." So here I am. We weren't given a menu with the specials on it, so I checked the daily special online and it was the chicken strip platter. I confirm with the lady that this is the special. I ask "does it come with 2 sides?" because who knows, maybe it's not the same as the non-special one. Lady snaps at me like "it's all on the menu!" and points annoyedly at my menu. Like, maybe it would've been if you had given me the one with the specials, too, lady. Or if you went back to your full menu instead of making people look on your website to see the entire REGULAR menu. She was just so rude for literally no reason. I asked a reasonable question, not every customer is going to know the menu as well as someone who has worked there for like 20+ years. I can't imagine acting like that to ANY stranger, much less a customer at my JOB. Maybe she just knows she won't get fired no matter what, or something? I don't think asking 2 questions should be that much of an annoyance though. I hope you see this, rude lady. I hope you reconsider your life choices and decide to become a decent human being instead of being so angry. Just be nice, or put on your customer service face like everyone else does. Maybe I should just start ordering to go instead, I don't know. I would just like to not be spoken to like I'm garbage while I'm out for...

Food was okay. Ordered a double cheese burger, fries, and dumpling soup. If you have the option, the west side Kroll's taste better.

What really disappointed me about my experience at this location was how they handle paying for your bill. As soon as all of my food came out, the server dropped my bill on the table. Which was fine at first. Then he just stood there until he told me he was waiting for me to hand over the payment for my bill. This has NEVER been an experience I have encountered at any reputable sit down establishment I have eaten at. But I thought, "Okay, I am not a regular and maybe they have issues with dine and dashers." So I gave him my card. Took a couple bites of my food as he processed my card. He comes back and places my receipt on the table. He then continues to stand at my table creating more awkwardness until I realize he is waiting for me to finalize the receipt with the tip info. I asked him if I could do it later after I finished my meal. He said "No, THEY make us do it this way." Which is a joke, because my card info is already in their hands. Not like I am dine and dashing at that point. This also forces me to make a determination on the tip amount while the waiter is standing over my shoulder half way through my dining experience. Reputable restaurants, wouldn't force a customer to make this decision at this point of their meal. So I tipped the standard 20% at that point, while also fearing that I would not see any server again if I needed a refill of my soda or any other service. Wouldn't you know it? Not one server came anywhere near my table afterwards.

So if you find yourself eating here in this situation, I would advise having some cash in your pocket. When they force you to finalize the bill, make sure you put a big old zero on the tip line. Then tell your server that you will be tipping in cash. So they may want to...

Krolls was a part of my dad's past and growing up our family frequented Krolls West. Mom decided to treat us to a lunch after we purchased a vehicle just to celebrate it with us. We arrived at 1:10pm and sat in a non busy area. Place was kinda dumpy and not real clean. We knew what we cleand right away and pushed the call button. A girl came and asked us to push it again to get our order whatever that meant. Anyway we ordered our meal and waited.....and waited....and waited for 3 burgers, a grilled cheez 2 orders of onion rings and an order of fries. Meanwhile my mom asked for sugar for her tea and the girl passed us 3 times never bringing it. Another girl brought it after my mom waited nearly 10 more minutes. We waited almost 45 minutes for our order and finally when we got it we realized we never got my husband's burger because the girl never added it to our order and our fries ( hubby ordered onion rings and got fries) and onion ring orders were huge because she never asked if we wanted small or large order. To top it off our food tasted like absolute crap. Burgers were cold and grey looking with rubbery hard cheese like they rewarmed it all because it was forgotten and the fries were greasy and cold. My daughter had two pieces of toast with unmeltef cheez between them that got cold and was rewarmed we could tell and buns and bread tasted stale. For $33 it was not worth time or money at all and clearly some young people need more training in customer service. Needless to say we are never going to Krolls again om either side of town since West side downsized on their quality and service too. No tip today either. Krolls has ridiculous prices for the quality of food and service you get. Forget revisiting nastalgia. Just hold on to those memories and enjoy a meal somewhere else. Its not what...

Kroll's East is a bit of a time capsule that has multiple dining spaces with limitless seating. It is undoubtedly a neighborhood institution that all of the locals know about. The burgers have thin old timey 1/4 pound patties, that are still juicy somehow and have a bit of char flavor. They come wrapped, so they don't photograph very well, but it's obvious that they are melded together with buttery goodness. They are all cooked to medium doneness due to their slim profile. We really enjoyed the garlic cheese curd cubes. Get the larger portion for sure. The fries are big and crispy coated as are the homemade onion rings. The staff is friendly and helpful. Every table booth has a button to press when you are ready to order. It's kind of like drive in food, more than it is bar food, but there is a super cool, semi deco, bar dining area with a full bar too. The place could use some freshening up, I guess, but the booths and throw back elements are totally awesome. They have a big drive up business on one side, but to dine in, go around to the back entrance door.

This is a great Green Bay tradition. I don't know how many people know that it actually started on the South side of Chicago but that's another story for later. Burgers are way above average Wisconsin chargrilled butter burgers. Chili is consistently good. The style is somewhat unique to Green Bay with the spaghetti noodles. I might give it a few more stars but for the fact that a couple of years ago which was pre Covid I walked in and the guy behind the bar said I'll tell you right now buddy you're gonna wait 45 minutes for any food. I politely told him I could drive to Basil's II and be eating by then So I thought what the hell I drove a few miles and got a much better Burger.

How can you not love Kroll’s East? (not affiliated with Kroll’s West) Food is good, but when you take into account the price, the food goes from good to great. Service is good, you press the doorbell and someone is there shortly. Make sure to get chili and carrot cake, you will not regret either. Also, bathrooms are a great place to snap a quick mirror selfie. Thanks for having us!
