Good food but horrible service. I’ve been going here at least once a week for the last few years and I just now stopped coming here because of how bad the service is, despite the food being my favorite. The food takes forever and on top of it, my order usually isn’t right because of the language barrier. I speak some Spanish but im not 100% fluent. I noticed too that when i call, they will literally hang up on me because they don’t speak English. That is beyond me. When i call now, i order in Spanish because there were two times where i called to place an order and gave them my name “Jocelyn” and they hung up on me but then I called back and said my name was “Yoselín” and they took my order. They would benefit off of hiring someone who is bilingual. Another thing, every time I ask for something, it seems to have been forgotten about because I always have to get up and ask a second time. This is all the time too. Not only when they’re busy. There were a few times where my cup seemed to be dirty (there was grease and particles floating at the top of my drink) and I got the drink replaced but they tried to charge me for it? Which was also beyond me. Just be sure to double check your receipt before paying. I noticed when ordering big, they’ll try to sneak charges in there. They over charged me on items and when I found it on the menu to ask why I was charged $4.85 for a chicken sope when the menu says $2.75, I’m told that the menu is wrong. Like, what? They just got new menus too. They did this to me with both Sopes and Gorditas. Multiple times but the language barrier makes it tricky to resolve. I was with my mom once (who speaks Spanish) and she brought it up to the staff, and they fixed it right away but when I bring it up, I’m just given a blank stare. They charged me $3 for a spoonful of sour cream too. A SPOONFUL. This was the 4th time this happened at this point (always the same employee) so I figured I’d ask an employee who wasn’t serving me how much a side of sour cream costs and she said $0.75. I get to the register and again, am charged $3 for one dollop of sour cream. I brought it up but of course, the language barrier got in the way of resolving the issue. The time after that, the same exact situation happened, with the same employee. I knew this was going to happen again so I google translated what I was going to say ahead of time (questioning why I was charged $3 when it should’ve been $0.75) and he just rolled his eyes and took the charge off completely and slapped my new receipt on the counter. There’s just always an issue with something every time I go and the staff gets rude when you bring it up. If their service was better, i would give them 4/5 stars based off of their food despite the inconsistent quality of it but I know plenty of people who avoid this place because of how bad the service is. Also because they have flies and are rumored to have had roaches. I haven’t personally seen roaches but I’ve definitely seen flies which is gross. I use to tell everyone how good this place is FOR YEARS and brought so many people to this restaurant but I grew fed up with the bad service and attitude of the staff. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you speak fluent Spanish and you’re ordering...
Read moreWorst experience I've had at a restaurant. We've been going here for years now. Ordered our meal, ate and got a bill for $6 extra than what we ordered. They said it was for the meat, which I chose because they were out of the meat I originally wanted. The menu said "your choice of meat", but the owner was insisting the waiter to charge it. The other $3 was from a few measly chips we had, because they didn't give enough the first time, and because they gave way too much salsa the second time and we wanted to finish off the salsa. Again, we've been going here for years and never got charged nor had anybody mentioned a charge for extra chips , including the waiter today (also nowhere on the menu, must have been new as well as no longer getting avocado on the quesadillon). Instead of $8 for what I ordered, they were trying to charge $14. Obviously I was confused so I asked him why and tried explaining they cant just tack on random charges we were not aware of It then it progressed to a big incredibly stressful argument in front of the entire restaurant. The entire staff came to the front and not one of them could recognize the problem with the charges because only the waiter and one of the cooks could understand what I was saying.
As far as the restaurant, I'm amazed it hasn't been shut down for health reasons. The baskets the chips are in are always coated in old dried on salsa from other guests. The tables are dirty, the water comes from a cooler and the ice comes from a second cooler that they leave open. The table sauce are also open on the table unrefrigerated. The cakes in the cooler have no covering other than being in the cooler. The bathroom has another door leading into the kitchen that they could just walk into (and also looks like a horror show).
The waitstaff is also undertrained and very inattentive to guests, often sitting or chatting amongst themselves.
If you can get past all that, the foods not too bad, aside from odd choices such as cooked lettuce and wet paper underneath certain dishes you have to fish out...
Read moreThis restaurant has been a favorite place for quite some time. Food is delicious, authentic flavors. Salsas are really good, specially the one that is served with the tortilla chips. Desserts are also top notch. Flan, cake. They serve flavored waters, Orchata, tamarind, Mex. Sodas. Another great service is buying prepared meats, that you can buy by the pound. Prices are really reasonable. And you get lots of small salsa containers to go with, along with cilantro and onion both cut up and ready for your tacos at home. This is perhaps the best Mexican Restaurant in Green Bay WI. I always order the TAMPIQUEÑA. You get so much marinated and grilled beef I'd say 2, maybe 3 times more meat than any other restaurant I've been to. You also get lettuce, guacamole, spanish rice and a really good size red enchilada. Their tables and booths are decorated with brightly colored scenes. Check out this restaurant, you will be happy you did. They also have a Mexican food store in the same building. Check out other customers photos and comments. Yes you will have bad reviews also, just keep in mind what percentage is bad and whats high. In a restaurant business, is not impossible, but it definitely hard to satisfy everyone. Wherever you go, be patient, if it's taking a little to long, do yourself a favor and nicely remind waiting staff of your needs. If you don't like whatever you order, next time give it another try or better yet try something else. Notify managent if anything needs improvement, if nothing changes. Yes give a low rating and don't go back. Also look at the amount of total comments. If the total amount is low that is no way to determine if the place is good or not. Hey have an awesome experience wherever you decide to...
