University Avenue Market — Local services in Green Bay

No longer shopping here. I used to live in the area and shopped here a few times a week. Loved the meat department. After Festival opened down the street, I continued to shop here anyway.

A couple years ago I moved away but still occasionally drive across to shop here, mainly for meat. But three times now the ground chuck or beef has been sub-par.

I bought some to make burgers for a camping trip. I check dates and make sure I buy stuff that is packed the same day I buy it. It spent the day I bought it and next day in the fridge. Opened the package by day three and it was pure gray and smelled rancid. Tossed in campfire and wondered if the fridge had a temperature issue... But I don't think the fridge was the issue.

Second time was for home. The day it was set to be used or frozen by it was really bad. I had used half of it so it was opened. Tossed the rest. This was in a normal fridge that I keep quite cold.

This last time I bought ground chuck just this past Friday and made a couple burgers on Saturday. Even then it has a slight odor but was still red/pink. Today (Sunday) and a day before freeze by date it went totally gray and has an odor. Tossed it. I took a pic and fond something red to compare (yes, I know ground meat is never THAT red but wanted something with color to compare).

I do my best to support the smaller guys but it seems that in the meat department quality has gone way down. Shame because the ground products were usually pretty good in the past and all of the large chains usually just sell factory packaged meat that...

I gave them one start because I need to write my review but I gave them 0 starts. On Saturday October 3, 2020, around 5:30pm I went to the deli to deliver some food and I was buying something for the Deli but was close. The lady was cleaning and she was explaining me that they close that day earlier. For no reason the Manager came and told me that I need to leave the store. I ask him why I needed to leave the store and he said because I was distracted her. But, he didn't ask me what I needed or what I was looking, No, he told me that I needed to leave. What kind of client service is this?? I was a client in that moment that I want something for the Deli but was close and she was explaining to me. I told the manager that was not the right way to do a client services and I ask for the phone number for his Superior or his boss but he refused to give the number. I ask for this information for the cashier that was in front of desk and she said that he was the manager. Nobody want to give some other information that help me to put my complaint. I live around the neighborhood for almost 10 years. I always like go to this supermarket to buy meet and deli food. But now for this that happen to me I am not to sponsor this supermarket anymore and I am going to talk about my experience in my social media and not recommend this...

Bought pre packaged sugar cookies and other groceries a few months back from here. Brought them home and immediately dug into the cookies. Noticed they were a bit dry but didn't think much of it. Ate the entire cookie. Went to grab a second one and looked it over. They were all covered in blue mold on the bottom entirely. Every single cookie. Went back the next day to return the cookies with receipt. Looked over the other cookies they had out for sale before making my way to register to return. 3/4 of the cookies they had out for sale were the same as mine. Went to return cookies and explained the situation in full just to have them return my cost of the cookies. No consolation of any type. Haven't been back since. I ate that moldy cookie that should have never been out for sale to begin with..... My fault for assuming they had any type of quality...
