while the place always looks appealing, the customer service is greatly lacking. If you like being yelled at and talked down to this is the place to go. On three different occasions I have had poor customer service. Once I asked for one of the scones that was cooling in a pan, the person kept insisting on correcting me by saying, "They're not hot." Flatly. Why not pop it in the microwave if the customer wants it hot and why correct them instead of politely saying, "I'm sorry, they're not hot, would you like me to warm it up? " BTW if they offer the special spread with the scones don't take it. Its $1.25 more for a dollop of the stuff.
Second time I went in to get a coffee and the manager came up to me and said, "you cant eat that in here." I said, "hunh?" She pointed to my empty sandwich box under my arm. "No outside food is allowed." I didn't have anything there and she didn't politely ask. Hey, why not post a sign on the front door rather than intimidating and embarrassing the customer in line.
Third time. I went in to get a cup of coffee to go. I can only have columbian and guatamalen as other coffees give me migraines. I asked what kinds of coffee they have today as there were no signs on the pots. The woman spoke as if she were at an auction, "wehavelightroastmediumroastanddarkroast." I said, "What? I'm asking for the KIND of coffee." She said again, "lightroastmediumroastdarkroast" For a place that has 80 kinds of tea and serves gourmet coffee I couldnt believe she was narrowing it down to the color of the roast. "I said, "Where is the medium roast from?" She spit out angrily, "Guatamala!" and looked behind me rolling her eyes. Her manager looked at me too like I was a problem customer. I looked behind me and there was one person who had just joined the "line". I took the Guatamalen and left and am...
Read moreI use to come to this place practically weekly. But life happened and I am so much more busy then I use to be! But I will tell that over the years I have been coming here with my friends and family, explaining to them that this is truthfully one of the coziest places on earth. The other day I had a super rough patch of a day and I just wanted to get away and feel nostalgic. So I grabbed the old guitar and went to the coffee shop that had so many good memories. While I was here to get a cup of coffee it took the gal at least five minutes to get to me and I was literally the only person at the counter.. that is fine, I know that she has other customers but not once did somebody say WELCOME or I'll be right with you. Instead, I got this nasty look from the gal behind the counter whose name is Ashley. Come to find out she's the owner! I was so disappointed I waited patiently in my zen phase, after the girl gathered my money I asked politely if it was the girls first couple days because I had felt bad that she may have been over whelmed. Ashley the manager gave me the snarkiest look I have ever seen and just told me to wait my turn, I felt so disappointed that I have been fooled! This place is far now from cozy, I felt so much more upset then I had already felt! I walked back to the corner of the room and played quietly a few of my favorite melodies when Ashley proceeded to walk up and scold me and tell me to go play my guitar somewhere else.. A customer that was sitting in the library area came up and told me he didn't know what her problem was. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING AND I WILL NOT RECOMMEND YOUR BUSINESS. ULTIMATELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER FELT AT A...
Read moreArrived at 8am on a Saturday, posted opening time. Doors opened late, owner complained about an 'idiot' employee who scheduled coffee delivery for the wrong time. Asked the owner for the password to use Wi-Fi and he said he'd have to look it up. After twenty minutes it became apparent the owner had forgotten my request (he was walking around, talking to folks about tea; clearly not busy) so I asked the barrista; it was written down at the register and so simple the owner could not have been unaware of it.
Pros: The coffee was fair and it is one of the only coffee shops open at 8am in the Green Bay area. Comfortable atmosphere, music wasn't intrusive, and the bookstore lends a nice & quite library atmosphere - folks were social but not so loud as to be distracting.
Cons: I came to work, I require an internet connection, and it is a bit boggling that the owner (not a staff member) was unable to fulfill a very simple request. Available WiFi is, IMHO, a mandatory resource for any coffee shop.
I consider the value of a coffee shop to determined based upon product (40%), service (40%) and ambiance (20%). Two and a half stars.
Update 3/23: New ownership afaik.
PRO: One of the very few coffee places in GB open past 2pm
CON: Limited selection of coffee...
