THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE "GENERAL MANAGER" ANTHONY. I was very disappointed on my last visit to Capital Craft and I will not be going back unless this is addressed. My wife and I recently moved to the area and quickly made Capital Craft our go to restaurant because of its good food, proximity, and MAINLY the curbside delivery that is offered. My wife and I both work taxing jobs and its sooo convenient to have our meals brought out to us and not have to walk into a business in our dirty work scrubs. Since moving here in December we have frequented your establishment once a week. On Monday 2/12 I placed a curbside order, exactly like the 12 previous times (I counted because of how annoyed I was). When I arrived and called the restaurant as instructed on my order confirmation the hostess seemed unwilling to bring my order out to me. She told me I could come in and grab my meal. I politely explained that this was a curbside order and I was not dressed properly to enter the business. She again insisted that I come in and grab my meal. I again explained that this was a curbside order and I would like them to bring my order out to my car which was parked conveniently near the entrance so the hostess would not have to walk far. She put me on hold and after a few minutes Anthony answered the phone. I explained the whole situation to him and he insisted that I would have to come in and grab my order. He aggressively tried to talk over me and told me that they do not offer curbside orders as they don't have any curbside parking spots. I explained that on my order confirmation it states to park next to the patio, and call the restaurant upon arrival to bring out my order. He again began to get more aggressive and insistent that they do not offer curbside. I explained to him that I would come in and show him the multiple places that Craft Capital advertises their 'Curbside" deliver method. As frustrated as I was I decided to enter the building. Anthony looked at the 5 different areas on the website, facebook, instagram, toast, etc that shows curbside. I also showed him my order confirmation texts from the last 12 visits that were all brought out to me or my wife via curbside delivery. I showed him the exact instructions that the website gave me, "Please park adjacent to the patio and call ## when you arrive." He aggressively explained that he has worked here for over 3 months and has never seen a curbside order. He said that he has asked multiple hostesses and they all agreed with him. I asked if there was a manager above him that I could speak with as I was frustrated by either his lack of knowledge on his own restaurant procedures or his apparent attempt to gaslight me into thinking I had imagined the last 12 orders that were brought out to us via curbside. He then explained to me that he was the General Manager. I have never complained at a restaurant in my entire life as I have YEARS of experience in the industry and know how challenging it can be. This was extremely unproffessional and is very unfortunate as my wife and I love your restaurant. I cannot believe a GM would lie to a guest just because they do not want to bring a meal out to a...
Read moreI recently visited Capital Craft NJ for lunch on a Sunday after a Costco trip. While the food was undeniably great, I couldn't help but feel disappointed with the overall service experience. Here's a breakdown of my visit:
Firstly, let's talk about the positives. The food at Capital Craft NJ was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, and each dish was expertly prepared. From the appetizers to the main course, I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. It's clear that the chefs are talented and passionate about their craft. The quality of the food alone is reason enough to consider a visit.
However, the service left much to be desired. Similar to what others have mentioned, I found the service at Capital Craft NJ to be subpar. One particular issue that caught my attention was their payment process. I was surprised to learn that they don't allow payments via mobile phones. In an age where digital transactions are becoming the norm, it felt like a significant inconvenience. It would be a welcome improvement if they could adopt more modern payment methods.
Moreover, when it came time to settle the bill, I was presented with a tipping machine that started with a minimum tip amount of 20%. This approach felt presumptuous and somewhat manipulative. I believe that tipping should be left to the discretion of the customer based on the quality of service received. It would be more customer-friendly if they allowed for a wider range of tipping options or simply left that decision to the individual.
Another aspect that left me slightly disappointed was the lack of attentiveness from the staff. I would have appreciated it if they had proactively asked me if I wanted more drinks before bringing the check. This attention to detail can significantly enhance the overall dining experience. It's the small gestures like these that make customers feel valued and well taken care of.
In conclusion, Capital Craft NJ offers a delectable menu with flavors that will satisfy your taste buds. However, the service experience falls short of expectations. The absence of mobile payments, the tipping machine starting at a high percentage, and the lack of proactive service were notable drawbacks. Despite these issues, if you're primarily looking for scrumptious food, Capital Craft NJ is worth a visit. Just be prepared for a service experience that may not match the quality of the cuisine.
Also noted the path to the restroom is between other tables. Pretty...
Read moreWe had a group of 5 for dinner on Friday with a 6:45 reservation and the restaurant was packed which made us really excited to try it out. The drinks were nice, food was okay, service was abysmal.
The restaurant was packed so we expected slower service. We ordered a round of drinks and waters to start. We received water one by one and only when we could manage to flag down our server. 3/4 drinks came out about 10 minutes later, and we had to flag our server down multiple times to get our fourth. For our food, we ordered cheese curds and wings for the table as an appetizer, and a variety of burgers for entrees, with a couple requests for sauces on the side. My impossible burger was a modified— lettuce wrapped instead of a bun, add cheese. We ended up receiving all of our food together, which was tough to place on the table, but it’s fine. My burger ended up being a patty wrapped in lettuce with nothing else on it and i asked the runner for the other toppings for my burger so i could self assemble. The runners and manager were much more responsive than our server. She just seemed overall disinterested in engaging with us at any point during the night and we felt uncomfortable having to ask her for condiments or napkins or anything.
Overall, we were really excited to try this spot out, but very not impressed with the service. At no point did we receive any acknowledgment and just felt rushed. It was particularly awkward because the tables around us seemed to be better taken care off— things like sharing plates or napkins were readily provided, they weren’t struggling to get service.
2 stars— food was okay, drinks were good. Service is terrible. You’ll be fine if you...
