This was our first visit to Christine's. After reading the numerous positive reviews, our expectations were high, but we were slightly disappointed, especially with the food.
I have to address the water we were served. I've never tasted any water worse tasting than what is served here. It was undrinkable. I know there's nothing they can do about what comes out of the tap, but maybe give customers a heads-up when taking drink orders & offer bottled water for a nominal charge instead. Or, invest in a commercial water filter.
I tried one of the Filipino dinners (don't remember it's name - it was like a sampler). The 3 pork skewers (called bbq here) were tough - they were tasteless & like chewing on leather even after being dipped in the 2 sauces offered (both were just awful. One was plain soy sauce & vinegar, the other, orange colored sauce was so spicy/hot it made me cough). Pancit was tasty but needed seasoning. Egg rolls weren't very flavorful altho they had more ground meat than I'm used to from most other Asian restaurants. The cup of soup was very tasty & the best thing on the plate. I'd love to have a huge bowl of it right now!
Our server was very nice & helpful & was very well versed on all the menu items.
Christine was in the restaurant when we were there but she wasn't stopping & talking with diners as I've heard sometimes happens.
I think the dishes on the menu would benefit from being updated with more complex recipes, greater care in preparation & having everything tasted after...
Read moreHere’s yet another example of a restaurant that could be so much better with just a LITTLE more effort. Obviously, quite obviously actually, this restaurant has been in this same building for years and years. A renovation and renewal has been needed for probably a decade, maybe 2. But given the fact that it is one of the only Philippine restaurants in the city, or even the Tristate area itself, they can almost be excused for that. The food was good but not great but to their credit, there was plenty of it. Try the chili AND the keto omelette. I don’t think that onions are keto, but it was delicious nonetheless. So, atmosphere was not very good, food just shy of great, so, the highlight? And the ONLY REASON I give the place 4 stars: the server, Mary. I honestly wanted to hire her to be my personal waitress at EVERY RESTAURANT I go to. By the end of the meal, she was almost family. She is just one of those kind of people that were BORN TO BE A SERVER. If she sees this review—: Mary,, please go to the nearest 5 star restaurant and get yourself the position you were made for and deserve !!!!! And any restaurant manager that has the honor of interviewing her: If you DON’T hire her… you’re an idiot! A COMPLETE idiot. In my scale of 1 - 100, I’d give the place an 80… but Mary, the server, on a scale of 1 -...
Read moreOmg Omg Omggg I was looking for a place that served meatloaf close to my moms (you already know nobody compares to mamas meatloaf ) and Christine’s surpassed my expectations I’m still in shock No one has ever made meatloaf better than my mom but I may say Christine’s meatloaf is pretty up there ! I got the meatloaf with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese Wasn’t really a fan of the gravy whatsoever but hey to each their own , what I might not like another person may enjoy ! It was a little sweet and salty for me but the mashed potatoes alone paired with the meatloaf! Perfect ! And they give you just the right amount The macaroni and cheese blew me away I haven’t had a decent macaroni in the Cincinnati area until now ! I couldn’t stop eating it and kept wanting more I am definitely coming back just for the meatloaf and Mac alone Amazinggggg I tried the all star special which let me say Christine knows what she’s doing ! The all star is a chicken and shrimp mixed with rice and queso and it’s REALLY good A Spanish staple at most Mexican restaurants and it was done to perfection, definitely knows Latin cuisine well based on this dish I look forward to trying other dishes since Christine’s has a variety of everything Highly recommended! There’s something...
