Underwhelming portions and neglectful service.
Came in on a Saturday night with my girlfriend after coming across this restaurant on our way to the gym. We went out of our way and diet to try the food here. As soon as you pull up to the restaurant— you get the vibe of a 1970’s diner restaurant which is short in height and the inside has booth seating all over the place. The condition of the restaurant needs some love especially on spots where the drywall has been done but not repainted. The lighting is also dim and the lights hang low.
We initially requested a seat far from the door as it was cold but we noticed that the whole restaurant was cold.
We were greeted by our server who sat us and brought us water, apart from that, the other time we saw her was when she came with the bill—-very poor service considering we saw and heard her at the bar scrolling through tik tok the whole time we were there!
We ordered -the chicken tikka masala (spice level 4/6) with extra chicken and a -garlic naan to share. it was brought out to us briefly by another lady (I assume it was the owner).
Very quickly we noticed how small the portion sizes were. It was a little bowl with yes, extra chicken, but at the expense of less sauce which is my favorite part of Indian cuisine, a vibrant tikka sauce.
We wanted to order more food and of course more sauce but the server never came back to check up on us. With our water as empty as our stomachs, we left the place with a very bitter and underwhelming experience.
The chicken was well cooked and tender and the sauce definitely hit the spot if only we were served more of it. It had the right amount of kick and heat characteristics to indian food!
The garlic naan was fluffy on the outside and crunchy on the inside and it complemented well with the meal.
The rice was crunchy as well (not optimal) but delicious Nonetheless.
It was disappointing to pay more for chicken only to get less sauce due to their limitations in their plate size.
The lady that “took care” of us cashed us out and stood there as i was writting the tip. I left an honest tip reflected on the service but the fact that she was breathing down my neck as i was writting the tip was unappreciated.
The flavor was there but nothing extraordinary or unique that would urge me to come back.
Considering that there are other places with better service, pricing, and of course BETTER portion sizes, i will not come back and will opt to try other indian restaurants!

Read moreWon’t be coming back here. Before I started eating here, I told the staff about my food allergies and asked what the gluten free options were. The staff members told me, “all of the curries and chicken dishes are gluten free”. Today I ordered a dish called Chicken Chili, described as 'chicken cooked with chilies and bell peppers'. When I checked my order, I noticed that the chicken is breaded. I called the restaurant to confirm if it was gluten free, they said it was not. I explained to the employee that I was told all chicken dishes were gluten free, and that I either needed a refund or a new dish. She told me to call back when the manager was there. I did that, and explained the entire situation to the manager. His response was that it was MY fault for ordering the wrong item (even though I WAS TOLD that it was gluten free). Then he said he could not give me a refund or any other food, then hung up on me. Tried calling back several more times; my calls were either declined or I got hung up on. I came to this place at least once a week for a while. Sometimes I even came 2-3 times a week. And they used to be my favorite Indian food restaurant that is actually a 20-minute drive from my house. There are several Indian restaurants much closer, but I came to Aap because I liked them the best. Everything is already hard enough with inflation. Now I have wasted over $50 and received TERRIBLE customer service from a place I was a regular at and used to appreciate. All because I was misinformed. How is that my fault??? I will not be back. Can't believe they would treat a supporting customer like this.
EDIT
As I mentioned MULTIPLE times on the phone, I have an allergy and my mother is extremely sensitive. The food was packaged TOGETHER! That will cause an allergic reaction that would send me to the hospital! After being treated this way, I do not feel comfortable eating...
Read moreI originally went to this restaurant 2 years ago and the food tasted great except I wasn't a fan of the rice pudding. Also, there wasn’t much chicken. Mostly sauce which was delicious. Typically, if I do go I just order out but I suggested this spot for a first date since Indian came up in our convo... HORRIBLE mistake! It’s been awhile since I have been in there, the prices have gone up and the portions are smaller. I don’t like it but that was no big deal. The main issue was the TERRIBLE customer service! They rushed us to order saying “You must order now!”. He did not have the opportunity to really look at the menu because we were talking so he just ordered soup and naan. She expressed irritation and stated “No good!?!”. This was followed by her taking out menus and waving her hands at him saying “Fine, fine don’t eat!”. We even had a conversation if maybe there was some cultural differences, it wasn’t that. They rushed us to eat after we ordered. The order came, we were talking and she came requesting the plates back then pointed to the food telling us to eat. It was just a bad experience! From slamming down the water glasses so they splashed to rushing us to pay the bill. We thought, maybe they just want their money in efforts to give them the benefit of the doubt again. Nope! The entire time we were there only one other couple sat in. By the time we paid, around 8:15 no one else was eating-in. As we continued our conversation she came to tell us we had to leave so she could clean the table! Only thing on the table was rice and water she spilled! The restaurant doesn’t close until 10 anyway. I will never patronize this...
