Ok so my wife and I heard about Giovanni's on Chow Down Cincinnati. We live on the East side so thought we would make the 45mins drive to try it. When we walked in at 3:30 it smelled amazing and was surprised to see only five other tables seated. So we figured we timed it just right for an early dinner. We got seated and our waitress was very friendly and made recommendations due to us telling her we have never been here. We ordered out drinks and an appetizer, they came out fairly quickly. Then we placed our orders. We start noticing that half the tables were still waiting on their food. Then one guy and his wife started speaking up saying they have been there for well over an hour with no entrée yet. Then another table said them too. The waitress brought out the side salads that went with the entrées. We finished our appetizer and salad and notice we were now on an hour since arriving. So when the waitress came back we said that we would like to check on the status of our order and she said maybe 15 more mins. We asked if she was sure and she said yes. So we waited another 20mins and then asked the waitress again what's going on?? She said welllll it hasn't been put in the oven yet. WHATTT! So we said that we are sorry but we have waited too long and she said they were still trying to catch up from lunch lol four hours later???! So we told her to ask mgmt if they were willing to do anything for us since we have waited so long before we leave. She asked and came back and said that mgmt said NO! We said WOW well ok then! Give us our check please. She came back and the two side salads were on the check!! We said no we aren't paying for the salads since we didn't order them, they were part of the entrée that we never received. The waitress said she had to get mgmt and the lady came out and said she doesn't have time for this sh@t and for us to leave!! Uncalled for and we will...
Read moreWent here for the first time this evening for dinner. Absolutely "Delizioso"! Great Itialian, family operated restaurant.
The older gentleman (Owner?) was very nice and engaging with us us and our seven year old son.
We had the garlic cheese bread for an appetizer. I had the Salerno with cheese / Veal and it was the best I have ever had I believe. My wife had the lasagna and our son had the spaghetti with meatball. My wife thought the lasagna was good and our son commented how much he liked the spaghetti and the meatball. He had some spaghetti left over and said it was so good, he wanted to have it the next day so we boxed the rest up for him.
It was about a 15 minute wait to be seated. Our waitress (El) suggested an appetizer due to they were backed up in the kitchen.
She was right. It was very busy. We arrived at 5:35 pm and was sat at our table about 5:50 pm. Salad and appetizer came out fairly quickly but dinner took almost an hour afterwards. Glad we had the salad and appetizer to help hold us over. The wait staff was moving the entire time.
Needless to say the quality taste of the food was worth the wait. Highly recommend. Will be back.
Small place inside with four booths on either side of restaurant along walls and table and chairs in ceter portion. Table are a bit cozy looking but looked as though ample room. We waited on a booth.
Ordered a Connoli to go. It was good as well and El told us her Nonanna made...
Read moreI went with my wife and son. First, let me admit that my son and I enjoyed our food, and the place was crowded. But my wife's meal was totally bland. I tasted it, and she was right. When the server came to ask about our meal, we told her two were great, and one was bland. The server asked what we wanted her to do about it. After pausing (at a good service restaurant, they would offer to take it off the bill, and not ask our advice), my wife asked if she could just pay for the salad and return the meal. (There were two small bites taken out - one for her and one for me.) After taking our food to the back, and talking with tons of people about it (I could see them), they returned and said we had to keep it because we "ordered it off the menu." That statement doesn't even make sense. (Does it mean we could have returned it had the plate NOT been on the menu? And why did they ask what we wanted them to do if they were going to ignore us?) No one came and apologized, and the notion that the kitchen could make a mistake was not even an option. Some reviews say the food is good, and they are probably right - but if you get a bad one, watch out! If you have a bad experience, the service makes it even worse. We'll be staying away. It wouldn't have hurt them to swallow the price of one meal, especially if it meant keeping new customers. I'll never understand places that...
