Have you ever tried to venture out to a new restaurant, something only frequented by people from the area? In a different city you simply can’t eat at the chain restaurants. But there is a hesitation sometimes, at least for me. I’m from the Caribbean (Trinidad) and sometimes I never know if it’s the right fit. Santorini Family Restaurant greeted me like I was a regular patron the moment the woman at the register made eye contact with me. And at the same time she was attending to two customers waiting to pay. I was off to a great start. Santorini hit a home run (even though I prefer soccer) from the get go! My omelette, which was loaded and tasty, was on par with the service and attentiveness they provided. And it wasn’t just me. I sat at their diner bar and an older gentleman next to me in his cool yellow measuring tape patterned suspenders also received the royal attention.
There’s more…. I had just checked out of a very nice Hilton and thought breakfast was included. They said: “For the rate you got we cannot give you a complimentary breakfast.” Although I was disappointed at the time, the 25 minute drive to find Santorini Family Restaurant was certainly worth it. So, if you are in the Cincinnati area and looking for hometown excellence, visit Santorini...
Read moreI was meeting my work crew here because we always try to put our corporate dollars back in the local economy. I decided to go in bedoee the others to secure a table. When I entered there was nothing indicating seat yourself/wait. I asked a lady at the counter and she rudely replied "depends on who's eating" as she looked completely passed me. I turned around to see my coworkers had arrived (we're dressed the same obviously together) and she snapped back at me that there was an extra charge for eating in the dining room. We all were dumbfounded by an extra charge to eat in the restaurant. The server the rudely and loudly asked "so eating or not?" I chose the latter. I was told the food here was really good, however I cannot attest to that as we decided to leave. She could have been having a bad day or a toothache, I don't know. I am absolutely perplexed by the attitude of the staff. No one else there seemed to mind she...
Read more1pm on a Monday afternoon, ordered the special. Meatloaf. Looked like a good sized portion, great color, but slightly warmer than room temperature, soaked in a heavy grease, smothered in a disgusting, burnt flavored gravy. The instant potatoes were even colder, also drenched in the same gravy. The green beans were soaked in a dirty, muddy looking juice that tasted very similiar to the burnt gravy. The dinner roll was warm and flavorful. As it was the hottest item that was brought to my table. The server was overwhelmed by the 4 tables, as to check back on me after she delivered my meal. I ate what I could stomach, as I was hungry, but then I started to get ill and decided to go pay. At no point did she ask how my meal was, I am assuming she knew. But after I paid I did tell her how awful it was and that I was getting sick. Came home, vomited and wrote this warning. It was my first visit, and...
