We have been dining here since it first opened. They have gone so far downhill it’s not even funny. The first red flag was having to put a $50 nonrefundable deposit down just to make a reservation, what a way to treat customers. Started out with sitting at the bar and overhearing a waitress complaining about being triple sat. We were excited for their special only to find out it was $110 for a 24oz strip steak, 2 scallops and 2 shrimp - what! Just a couple of years ago they had tomahawk as a special and it was divine! Whoever is managing this place is doing a terrible job. When our reservation was up, they sat us in their overflow room (the former BBQ restaurant which closed), which was the equivalent of a garage or wedding hall. No music. Echoey. Terrible ambiance. Not Joey Gerard’s material. We complained and they sat us in the actual dining room. We loved our server, she was so great. Next, we ordered Filets. I have NEVER had a fattier “Mignon” in my life. Neither has my husband. These were clearly cheap cuts of tenderloin, not the Mignon that they used to source. We’ve had their Mignon before and it has always been amazing up until now. What a shame, it’s just getting worse and worse. We will never be back, Packing House will be our go-to now. You lost very loyal customers. What a terrible experience and all for so MUCH more money too. Rediculous.

This place is dark and overrated. I got lobster tail which was huge and flavorless. I wouldn't have been able to eat it without butter. You'd be better off going to Red Lobster and getting 2 lobster tails for less money and more flavor where you can get steamed or grilled and they are both delicious. The spinach was more of the same, flavorless and it was advertised as garlic spinach. If they had more light they may not have handed me greasy menus. If I'm paying top dollar for a meal I don't want to order it from a greasy menu like some dive diner. We were started with 2 half dollar sized rolls and packaged breadsticks and crackers. I really expected more out of such a pricey restaurant and I don't mean just quantity, how about better quality from start to finish. My husband got a beautiful, large flavorless steak. Save your money, go to Outback or Texas Roadhouse for some steak with flavor. I really expected to be WOWED by this place as a Bartolotta restaurant as I've had an amazing dinner at Mr.B's. These restaurants weren't even comparable.

First time dining at Joey Gerard's and we had a great dining experience. It was our anniversary and they took really good care of us. From first arriving and being seated in a curved booth that seemed to look out over the rest of the dining area. We felt like a king and queen overlooking everyone. Hahahaha. To comping us a delicious dessert called the Schaum Torte, which i would recommend trying. They also gave us an anniversary card which was a very nice touch. Not too many supper club type restaurants around any more and they surely know how to take care of their customers. My husband ordered the Joey's Fried Seafood basket and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Scallops and they were delicious (although I wish the bacon would have been cooked a bit longer), however the Scallops were cooked perfectly and the lemon butter sauce was so tasty. Service was spot on and our server made sure we were well taken care of. If you ever need a top of the line restaurant for a special occasion, I would highly recommend going here.

Overall - NOT WORTH THE MONEY, GO. ELSEWHERE. ASAP.

Anticipating our reservation, we arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes early and settled into the bar area. However, the initial excitement waned as it took nearly 20 minutes for us to garner any attention from the staff. Frustrated, we swiftly closed our tab in a rush to be ready for our reservation.

Amidst the somewhat rocky start, there were a couple of redeeming aspects. Our server, emerged as a beacon of excellence--efficient, knowledgeable, and consistently prompt. The hostesses also added a positive note with their friendly and courteous demeanor. Notably, the drinks served were a highlight of the evening.

Regrettably, these positive moments were overshadowed by the lackluster quality of our main courses. The steaks failed to live up to expectations, lacking flavor and proper preparation. My medium-ordered strip arrived well done, an egregious misstep for a $62 steak. Overall, the steak was poorly (if at all) seasoned and was rather boring. The best item on my plate was the potatoes, which were perfectly fluffy and seasoned to taste. It was disheartening to realize that a mainstream chain could outshine the culinary offering at a well known restaurant.

In contrast, our friends' choices--the scallops and pork chop sandwich--stood out with their excellence. However, it raised eyebrows that non-steak options outperformed the restaurant's supposed specialty. (Did I mention it was underwhelming?)

Opting to extend the evening with a sweet touch, we decided to close our tab and return to the bar area for an ice cream drink. Unfortunately, this plan hit a snag. As three out of four of us visited the restroom, not a single server attended to our needs. A friendly greeting to the bartender went unnoticed, leaving us with no choice but to abandon the idea and head to a wine bar across the street.

The final blow came when reflecting on the substantial $400 bill for our meal, leaving us with a sense of having been shortchanged. It's disheartening to be this critical, but the lack of care in the service and overall experience was palpable. The Bartolotta name in MKE was know for excellence, a place you wanted to bring visitors, and a delicious experience. If so, it's fallen far from where it once stood as a renowned restaurant group of the area.

For those seeking a more gratifying dining experience at a fraction of the cost, my recommendation veers towards 5'O Clock Steakhouse or Carnivore. Both have much better selections of steak, better seasoned meat, and equally as good (if not better) dining experiences. I've always wanted to try Bacchus...but after another let down experience, I will spend my money on much more memorable dining experiences...

I have to say my wife and I had high hopes for this restaurant. Our children gave us a gift certificate for Christmas because they liked this place as we frequent many supper clubs. We were sadly disappointed. First off the restaurant is very nicely decorated and we like the decor . The lay out was great. As soon as we were sat down it took our server at least 10 minutes to greet us and ask about drinks. In there defense it was a Saturday night. Very busy The server, Jason was very nice and knew the menu very well. We were excited to try the food. We ordered old fashions of course, which from my experience were lack luster. I think they muddled the fruit but wasn’t sure. Most high end supper clubs use luxardo cherries , they did not and the brandy was not very good. I did drink it but ordered another with southern comfort to sweeten it up. Much better than the menu old fashioned. We ordered cheese curds which were tasty but seemed as good as Culver’s. The waiter brought out cheese with a few crackers and bread sticks. It seemed cheap to get good cheese and crackers in a package ( ritz, Keebler). The bread was ok but would make the meal better when I order a steak to get soup or salad to complement the meal, which you can get for 10-15 dollars extra. Anyway the main food came out and looked delicious!! I ordered an 18 oz ribeye, which I make at home regularly. I ordered mine medium rare. It was very undercooked on the inside, kinda mushy purple/ pink. The outside was seared. The problem was the taste. I’m not exaggerating . It tasted like lighter fluid!! I took a few bites and couldn’t eat anymore. The potato tasted like instant and the cauliflower was hard. Jason did ask how our meal was. At 1st I said good but a little bit later, I had to be honest. Told him what I thought. Jason did take care of the situation. He immediately asked if I’d like another, which I declined. He had the manager come over which the did comp my steak. ( hence good service by the services and manager). They ask if we would like dessert. My wife got cheesecake to go, again seemed processed. My overall opinion is I wouldn’t go back or recommend. The prices are high but if I’m spending 200 -300 dollars on a steak diner with my family I expect perfection with the food quality. IMO they should buy better quality food from there food company and hire chefs and cooks to cook...

a little long but may be worth reading. 8/18/2013 visited This was our third try at this restaurant. The first two we had ok meals but thought it was overpriced a bit. This was a special occasion for our friends 71st birthday, and he chose Joey Gerards. We are in our 50's and have a lot of dinning experiences. Party of 6 for a nice dinner outside on a beautiful night. We had a drink and ordered appetizer, which was ok. We ordered 6 entrees. One trout, two shiskabob specials, two chopped steaks and a ($32) filet. The entrees came out. I cut into the filet that I had ordered MEDIUM RARE and it was WELL done. I showed it to the server and she imediately took it back and said she would correct the problem. Everyone else was uncomfortable eating while I sat there, so I snacked on carrots, celery and bread and told them to eat because their food would get cold. My second filet came out after they were finished eating. All except my husband because he did not want to eat until I did, so he was eating very slow. She put it infront of me and ask how this one was. I cut into it and it was MEDUIM WELL, not even close to MEDIUM RARE. Ok once, but I could not believe a place like this that this happened twice. wow. I said to the waitress I still was not satisfied but I would eat it anyway. I took a few bites, and took the over cooked piece of meat home with me. If I had not been with the party of 6 I would have not accepted the second one and would have ask for it to be taken off the bill, since I was somewhat full from all the carrots and celery, but I was with a group and did not want to cause problems or make the birthday guy feel bad since he picked the place. So she packed up my steak and brought it back along with a piece of pie. she said here is some desert since the steak was not done correct. I DONOT eat desert. LOL what a joke. I passed it around the table for others to enjoy. They liked it. So for $106 bill before tip for my husband and myself. I got to watch others dine and then dine alone after they were all done. I do that at home enough when I am the chef. I tried to contact them when we got home on their website but had an error on the page when I tried to send it. I did send a message to them through their fb account. For me this place was like a 1 or 2 star restaurant at 5 star prices. ...
