Since Valentine’s Day I have been thinking about how to word what I’m about to say. so I figure the best way to say when I’m about to say he has just come right out and say it. So here goes. I worked in the food service industry for over 30 years and I know how at times we as diners experience bad service or bad food at a restaurant. It happens. But what I experienced last Friday has got to be talked about or at least mentioned and then maybe things will improve for this particular establishment. As I said on Valentine’s Day, my girlfriend and I went out to celebrate the evening. It’s the first Valentine’s Day that she and I have even celebrated in over a decade and I wanted to make it special for her. Neither one of us had been to the Mediterranean on 33 in Lancaster and I picked up a menu and we looked at it and thought OK, why not check it out . What was supposed to be a pleasant evening turned into a disaster, and now every Valentine’s Day, we are going to remember this. We had two steaks with veggies, etc. as a special, so that’s what we got. The girlfriend ordered a ribeye and I got the top sirloin. Somebody needs to teach these people what a top sirloin and a ribeye is. It is not a paper thin piece of meat, and a ribeye is bigger than a petite sirloin. That is exactly what we got. It was cooked all wrong, my steak had more gristle than actual meat and what meat I did get to eat was tough. The girlfriend could not eat hers either because she said it was like biting into rubber. And since they advertise American foods as well, it is customary in the United States to have steak sauce on hand for steak orders. This restaurant doesn’t. Their condiment is mustard, ketchup barbecue sauce that’s it. Service was also a joke. We sat down and it took them nearly 25 minutes to get drinks to us, another 20 minutes to come to us to find out what we were going to eat in the way of an appetizer, and I had to go find her to do that. She was too busy behind the bar talking to a few customers her reply was I’ll be with you in a few minutes. another 30 minutes for the appetizer, and it was on our table less than two minutes when the main course came out. After about 15 minutes of trying to eat something we decided to get our food to go. Before we left, the girlfriend decided to go to the ladies room. She walked in to look at a big hole in the ceiling right over the commode. That would give a woman an uncomfortable feeling as she was very uncomfortable With a hole over her head. There are other issues that I could list that I’m not going to. This was our first visit to this establishment and it is definitely...
Read moreI was a little bit disappointed with my first visit tonight. My favorite food is stuffed grapes leaves and came here to get some. First off, walked into the restaurant and found no sign that said “please seat yourself” or “please wait to be seated”, so my girlfriend and I sat at the little bench in the entry way for 15 minutes until the waitress peaked her head around the corner and said we could sit wherever. I thought it rude to assume I should seat myself without being told to do so, as I am a guest. We sit down and I immediately order the grape leaves I’m craving. They came out reasonably fast. How they serve them is five grape leaves in a row. The two outside leaves were piping hot, but the three inner leaves were cold. It’s like they didn’t leave it in the microwave long enough or something. It’s clear and disappointing it wasn’t made to order. But that’s fine. I get it. We both had the same entrées of the shrimp and scallop dish, with French onion soup, onion rings, and mashed potatoes. The French onion came out first with this slab of burnt old piece of cheese sitting on top. I didn’t even know it was cheese at first. I thought it was some type of pita. I bit into this leathery substance and it just tasted old and burnt. The soup didn’t have very many onions in it either, it was straight broth 1/2 the way down. The entrees came out and it looked great! The shrimp and the onion rings were delicious. Sadly, the mashed potatoes were also cold underneath the top layer, and the scallops were hit and miss in terms of temperature and quality. I had one scallop out of several that tasted fresh. The others were clearly expired as they just had a horrible, off taste to them. My girlfriend immediately spat them out. We stopped eating after that. Paid the bill, tipped the waitress, and left. 6pm on a Saturday night and no one was there when we left. It was eerie. I’ll come back at least one more time, because I believe in second changes and off days, but if this is how it always is, I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to visit this place on a date night. At first I ordered lamb chops, to which I was told they only had two out of the four that was part of the order. I decided to go ahead and let them give me the two they had and also ordered a steak. I got the food I got Lamb chop (for some reason the other one was not presentable to bring out). The Lamb chop that I did get was completely wrong it was cooked on one side the other side was completely raw had not even touched a grill. The steak that I ordered medium well done was literally bleeding. I normally don't mind if my steak is wrong I just request it sent back because everybody Cooks their steaks differently. Once it came back it was so overdone and hard and tough. I also ordered fettuccine to which the sauce tasted spoiled. I thought I would try some mashed potatoes, thinking though should be safe because not many people can mess up mashed potatoes. Boy was I wrong, the mashed potatoes tasted terrible! I have never had bad potatoes before this was a first! Next my husband cuts into his salmon and it is raw on the inside! So having spent so much money we thought that we would just take our food and take it home and re-cook it instead of wasting it. I will never go to this place again! I told the waitress about the food and still gave her a nice tip understanding that she didn't cook the food. However, she replied that she understands and it's something that happens there and she's trying to get it fixed. If this is the case how many other people are eating raw food or having terrible tasting or expired food given to them. I don't recommend this place for anyone. And for the amount that we spent on our food we could have went to a longhorn or a Roadhouse where we would have received proper food. If you're thinking of eating...
