We stopped in today to try this one out. There are other Mexican food restaurants in town, but this one does the real deal. A wonderful welcome and great service are a bonus for their delicious food. Traditional menu for a Taqueria, complete with Lengua and Chicharron, in addition to the other fillings commonly seen. I noted they offer Tortas, rarely seen in standard a Mex restaurant. Think "sandwich." I was stunned at their seafood offerings! I seldom see the dishes they offer anywhere locally. Ceviche, Aqua Chile, three shrimp dishes cooked and spiced differently! Today we had the Burrito Mojado, the classic "wet burrito" with the standard refried beans and rice as sides. I had asada and the wife had chicken. Mojado is a good intro for gauging Mex food. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, but more importantly the quality of the saucing. El Tapitio used a house made delicious sauce that incorporated peppers (I suspect poblano). And try the side sauces you get! I'll definitely be back, and plan to try the seafood offerings, with some other delights I spotted. They are a new restaurant and will likely have all the growing pains of all new restaurants as the business grows. But it's a keeper! When word gets around they're gonna get busy. This...
Read moreAs if they couldnt get any better... They got their LIQUOR LICENSE!!! Margaritas, beer, micheladas and more are now on the menu! Soooo sooo goood!!!!
The staff is ALWAYS friendly. Yes the experience is slightly different than what people are use to, but that's a taqueria, it's more authentic. The food is great, meat is flavourful and tender from the beef tongue, pork, chicken and shrimp. My personal favorite is the beef tongue and the carnitas. With the tacos your given 2 sauces a red and a green. Red is more smokey and spicier than the green which is creamy and acidic (my fav is the green depending on the meat of course) You can watch as they make your food. Again that's part of a taqueria experience! No alcohol but honestly the food is so good I don't need a beer or a margarita to cover it up. You can always call ahead and do take out if you want that drink...
Read moreI was NOT a believer, -but I can now say that I would return! The staff are all from Mexico or other such countries! It is a small, pre-order and sit restaurant, a Mexican twist between a Subway and a eatery. From the outside, you want to keep driving. (We did, 2 times!) Glad we stopped in, though, and their beef fajitas were awesome and large portions. Their salsa is fresh, garlicky and tasty. The chips are freshly made and hot. Tons of different bottles of hot sauces to bring to your table. Much of the dishes look similar, so would not expect diversity. Don't think I would pay for whole pieces of meat cooked to order, but they seem to specialize in standard "mexican" blue-collar fare. If you feel like eating what they do well, and you are comfortable in a blue-collar hole-in-the-wall, (think WWF on the TV's, self-serve, noisy, friendly, home-town atmosphere), --you will not be disappointed!
FAR better than other options in this town, -one of which "mexican???" restaurants had ketchup (!!!) On every table! We will come back for a...
