I ate here and I quite enjoyed it. The restaurant itself has a nice appearance from the outside, though inside feels a bit tacky. Not sure why, but I had higher expectations. The decor felt somewhat dated, right out of the early 80’s and hasn’t been touched since. It certainly wasn’t a dive, and felt clean, just dated. It has a very noisy atmosphere which makes it great for kids and groups.
The food was delicious. I tried their brick oven style pizza, New York style meat lovers and their meatball appetizers with marinara sauce. The pizzas were incredible. The brick oven was cooked to perfection with outstanding mozzarella, rotisserie chicken, red onions and it had just a fabulous taste with the most incredible crust. The New York style was a bit more generic though very tasty. Though the meatballs were quite good, they tasted like frozen meatballs from Costco, which felt a bit odd because everything else appeared to me be made in-house and from scratch.
The service was alright. The restaurant was very busy, but we only saw the waitress four times: to order drinks, deliver drinks and order food, deliver food, and bring the check. There was no refilling of drinks and she was quite elusive. Perhaps she was just busy —let’s be positive here. She was polite and courteous, though not overly friendly or helpful.
The restaurant was easily spotted from the surrounding streets and had easy in/out access. It had a small lot for the size of the restaurant, but finding a spot wasn’t impossible.
Overall the experience was okay, and food certainly was good but service lacking. Initially had this a four star rating but as I went through the experience, it dropped to a three. The food is certainly a four star rating, everything...
Read moreElizabeth’s has been a family favorite for years. But I have to say I believe it’s going downhill. Maybe Covid hit them hard personally and professionally-I don’t know. We ordered takeout several times during Covid-most of those experiences were okay besides lackluster service. Now with things opening back up, we’ve been in-person twice in the last month. Both times we had really bad experiences. The employees just seem tired and don’t want to be there. Even the owner himself who used to greet every table and was quite jolly, no longer does this and acts like he doesn’t know anyone- when we’ve been coming to this establishment for years. Anyone can certainly be going through things on any given day-I’ll give them that. But in the restaurant and customer service industry, I think everyone must bring their A game majority of the time. The food is the most consistent thing for us here; it’s usually delicious. But the prices are another huge concern. Their prices were always average-high average in our book but now they just seem high. And for the amount of food you get, it just doesn’t seem worth it. My husband ordered the grilled shrimp salad and he might have had 5 pieces of shrimp on it! The menu prices online do not match so beware of that. We were also overcharged for things both times we went in person. All in all, we adore some particular menu items (rotisserie chicken/lobster ravioli, Alfredo, margherita pizza, bone-in chicken, broccoli) but with the inconsistency in prices/bill and the lacking service and care for guests, I don’t think we will be regulars...
Read moreWe dined at Elizabeth's on a Friday night and it was jam-packed. There was a 25-minute wait but we were called shortly after by an incredibly friendly hostess who took our drinks as the waitress was running behind due to staffing issues.
We ordered the bruschetta pomodoro, carbonara, and the sicilian style pizza.
The bruschetta may have been the worst bruschetta I've had in my life. I know tomatoes are out of season but the bread tasted like the $1 Italian loaf from Walmart and was overtoasted. The mozzarella cheese on top was just heated deli-sliced mozzarella cheese. I could have built the plate for about $1.50 and they are charging $11 for it.
As other reviews have stated, the pasta was swimming in cream. We had to douse it in pepper to have any flavor. The noodles were not fresh and the sauce had no flavor. The dish had no substance and was $19.
I've not had Elizabeth’s other styles of pizza which may be good, but I would never recommend their Sicilian-style pizza to anyone. Little Caesar's $11 Detroit style is LEAGUES better. I have never had such a dry crust on pizza, I would have preferred if they used the pre-made $1 Trader Joe’s pizza dough.
I am giving Elizabeth’s 2 stars due to the incredible service we had. The restaurant was severely understaffed yet our waitress was attentive and got us everything we needed quickly and with a smile. The food was overpriced, heavy, flavorless,...
